So, looking through the day two decklists from the GP, I don't see a single Mortify. Are there no decks that can use Mortify?

Pros: Nails Goyf, Tombstalker, Dreadnought, and Bob; kills Counterbalance, Moat, Humility; instant speed (unlike Vindicate); dodges Counterbalance

Cons: Does not nail lands (like Vindicate), artifacts (like Vindicate...but artifacts mainly being Vial and Jitte), does not hit Tops (like Krosan Grip)

I guess the biggest drawback is the color requirements. Very few decks are running black and white, and white doesn't offer much besides Swords to Plowshares and Oblivion Ring, making Mortify redundant.

Does the fact that none made day two speak for itself, or should this card be seeing at least some play somewhere?

It's not that no decks can use it... It just seems that, aside from being instant speed, vindicate seems infinately better. Hits artifacts (chalice of teh void, jitte), Lands, Planeswalkers (Elspeth)...

Mortify seems to be a budget replacement for Vindicate, and even that has been taken away from it with the introduction of Oblivion Ring (which you mentioned).

Yeah, I think puppektion hit it on the head, like I said on sunday, why play Mortify when you can just play Vindicate, which is better, although if in a pinch you don't have Vindicates, and need something, Mortify would do just fine.

And I'd play Vindicate over Oblivion Ring in a B/W deck all day long, however Oblivion Ring does only require white...

It also is only a temporary solution to what you're getting rid of. Vindicate, however, is not.

This, in all honesty, I don't see why O-Ring is even considered in B/W decks, if it even is.

Well... It might not be as "temporary" as you think... Not everyone packs Enchantment hate in the Main.

I've actually seen decks running both Vindicate and Oblivion Ring... They are both quite versatile, and, despite the fact that they're not instant speed, have a tendency to take out a good deal of cards... I'd rather run either of those before Mortify.
