Why can't elves be as good as goblins?
The Deck:
4 AEther Vial
4 Nettle Sentinel
3 Wolf-Skull Shaman
4 Bloodline Shaman
4 Wren's Run Vanquisher
4 Wellwisher
2 Eladamri, Lord of Leaves
4 Priest of Titania
1 Viridian Zealot
4 Imperious Perfect
4 Elvish Champion
4 Sylvan Messenger
12 Forest
3 Wasteland
3 Wirewood Lodge
Some of the guys have similarities to the goblin tribe, but the deck works a lot differently. Like the Merfolk decks going around, this build is reliant on the Lords, but unlike Merfolk it can function without them.
Cards:
Nettle Sentinel: A 2/2 Vigilance for G. Pretty good.
Vial: Goes in aggro decks.
Bloodline Shaman: A powerhouse. This card is nuts by itself, but combined with Wolf-Skull Shaman it gets out of hand.
Wolf-Skull Shaman: I started running out of good elves, and this guy makes wolves that clog up the ground while you're looking for a Champ or Eladamri to forestwalk.
Wren's Run Vanquisher: The 3/3 Nettle Sentinel that kills everything. Pretty good against Tarmogoyf.
Priest of Titania: Powers out what you draw with Messenger, sometimes it draws Swords away from more threatening creatures because people are afraid of what you can do with like 50 mana.
Wellwisher: The sad fact is most decks can't race a Wellwisher. Burn decks have to throw fire at them, buying you time to beat. As long as your affinity opponent doesn't go nuts you can survive a few turns of that too. Wellwisher shines in the Landstill matchup. Too good not to use.
Sylvan Messenger: Elf Ringleader. Enough said.
Eladamri, Lord of the danceLeaves: Giving all your guys shroud is pretty good, especially off a Vial.
Elvish Champ: The winner of the deck. Tons of decks these days use forests to play Tarmogoyfs and Mongeese or whatever. Take your elves for a walk in the woods, straight to your opponents life total!
Imperious Perfect: Another Lord. Also makes chump blockers/ more guys at EOT. A solid elf.
Wasteland: The original build I had used Llanowar Reborn over this. Then I said "This is so vulnerable to Wasteland. Huh, let's use Wasteland instead". It's hard to play GG guys, but Wasteland is so good.
Wirewood Lodge: Untaps Wellwisher, Perfect, Priest, Bloodline Shaman. Also does nutty things in combat with Wren's Run Vanquisher. It's alright.
Forest: What I want to see my opponents play.
What I want the deck to do:
Due to the high concentration of Forests in Legacy I wanted to build a deck that could abuse this. This deck plays a ton of good creatures, then a Champ or Eladamri comes down and it's game over. With Vial the deck is resistant to counterspells and the creatures are high quality. The hardest matches are the ones where they have a fast clock, like Affinity and Burn. These matchups can get better after sideboarding.
