Haven't seen a thread on this one yet, so why don't I start one I thought. It has some advantages to Pope (Loxodon Hierarch), i.e. cc of 3, you don't need to pay to use the ability, makes your creatures even survive a wrath of god (not that is's played that much, but still)

It does have 1 p/t less than Hierarch and doesn't gain life.

What do you guys think?

Hierarch barely sees play in Legacy, and where it does it's mostly for the +4 life and 4/4 body attached. I'll pass on this guy. Pretty good in Limited though.

This is useful when there's a bunch of other stuff on the table, and there's a sweeper effect. Looking at the DTB/DTW list, there's not too much of that going on in legacy.

Making your own symmetric sweepers asymmetric at the cost of a card isn't really worthwhile either.

Maybe if he had flash or the ability was continuous....

His ability is ONLY good if a) you have 2 or more other creatures b) they are worth to be saved and c) opponent plays sweepers.

I don't know any deck with :g: and :w: winning by swarm of creatures.

3/3 for 3 mana - you know that's not good.

I was thinking of playing him in a survival build with white to nullify deeds and such. I used to play hierarch in that role, to protect multiple goyf and such.

granted, it depends on a lot of factors for him to shine.

Warning: Nay-saying commensing.

I can't see this guy being played anywhere. Too slow. Too small. Too mana intensive. Too useless against Swords and sac effects. Too dependant on what the other deck is playing.

Maybe he could find his way into a G/W token deck, but I don't see those sweeping the meta anytime soon.

But he doesn't protect your Survival. And if you have a functioning Survival you probably don't need this guy to protect your critters.

Agreed. You could just be playing more critters that don't suck.

Stick with Hierarch or Kitchen Finks for that role. And go find a Qasali Pridemage. Beyond that? This guy's not so much.

This just plain sucks, and not only in legacy. I don't see this played in any format ever, even in T2 you have much better 3 drop for GW.
