Hi! Looking at the Decks to Beat forum, I saw that the Top Contender was Nourishing Lich, and thinking of a way to stop that absolute monster, I realized that dwarves were the best choice! You all will agree with me that dwarven recruiter is nuts. Several attempts have been done to break it without success, but I think I finally managed to do it! The trick was to take all dwarf decks in mtgtheSource and merge them in a single deck. Then, I also took proven decks (of the kind that wins tournaments) and merged them into my deck. I don't know why nobody thought about it before!
// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)
// The deck is 61 cards because spanish design them that way.
// Name: Dwarven Painter
// Combo/Control (R/b)
// Lands
4 [R] Badlands
3 [PS] Crosis's Catacombs
3 [TE] Ancient Tomb
4 [EX] City of Traitors
4 [DIS] Blood Crypt
4 [TE] Wasteland
// Creatures
3 [AP] Bloodfire Dwarf
3 [MI] Dwarven Miner
3 [OD] Dwarven Recruiter
3 [P3] Imperial Recruiter
2 [JU] Dwarven Bloodboiler
3 [PLC] Simian Spirit Guide
2 [SHM] Painter's Servant
2 [JU] Balthor the Defiled <-- D'oh
1 [B] Dwarven Warriors
// Spells
4 [TE] Grindstone
3 [MR] Chalice of the Void
3 [SH] Mox Diamond
4 [DS] Trinisphere
3 [MR] Goblin Charbelcher
// Sideboard
4 pardic miner
3 volrath's stronghold
4 Red elemental Blast
4 pyroblast
Explanation: This decks has many ways to win.
1. Painter's Servant + Grindstone combo. This is the fastest one.
2. Dwarven Recruiter + Goblin Charbelcher. Pack twenty dwarves and activate.
3. Dwarven Recruiter + Grindstone. Pack twenty dwarves leaving the two balthors as your two last (or third from the last) dwarves, then mill yourself. Next turn, play balthor and activate his ability to bring up all the dwarves into play! Kekekeke
4. Trinisphere + Pardic Miner + Volrath's Stronghold. Because of Trinisphere, the opponent can't play spells, and because you keep recurring Pardic Miner, he also can't play lands. The problem is that you won't see any new cards, but that means that your opponent will deck first!!!!1! This is of course awful, so you only actually use this combo with people that called you a noob on the first game.
Other combos:
1. Painter's Servant + Pyroblast
2. City of Traitors + Lairs
3. Dwarven Warrior + Bloodboiler
4. Dwarven miner + Trinisphere
Strategy:
Slow the opponent with Trinispheres and land destruction until you find your key pieces. Imperial Recruiter allows for both Dwarven Recruiter, Painter, or Pardic as a last option.
Matchups:
Against combo: You win because you play with CotV, Trinisphere, land denial, and dwarves! (bloodfire dwarf)
Against control: You win because you play with 8 red elemental blast, and also dwarves! (dwarven miner)
Against aggro: This one is a hard matchup, because dwarves counts like half a creature in battle and are totally obliterated by anything bigger than a goblin token. But if you manage to find one of your combos, you can beat them as soon as turn 2!
Okay, this was a joke deck. I was going to submit it during "cavius day" but couldn't post it until today.
