An adaptation of CounterTop to include the Painter's Grindstone combo, managing to fit the 2-card combo into a fairly standard "Legacy Blue" deck.

Decklists:

David Gerheart, 1st place Herndon Legacy
4 Dark Confidant
4 Tarmogoyf
3 Trinket Mage
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Grindstone
2 Painter’s Servant
3 Sensei’s Divining Top
4 Counterbalance
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Daze
4 Force of will
4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
4 Polluted Delta
4 Flooded Strand
3 Tundra
3 Underground Sea
4 Tropical Island

Sideboard:
4 Spell Snare
4 Krosan Grip
3 Grindstone
2 Painter’s Servant
2 Relic of Progenitus

"MegaMan" from Herndon Legacy, this deck is an adaptation of Nassif's CounterTop list. It transforms into full-on Painter after sideboard. Plays a standard "Legacy Blue" suite, no Red Blasts or anything like that.

Mike Altizer, 7th Dream Wizards Legacy
3 Polluted Delta
3 Flooded Strand
4 Volcanic Island
4 Tropical Island
2 Island
1 Forest
1 Mountain
1 Academy Ruins
1 Phyrexian Dreadnought
4 Painter's Servant
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Trinket Mage
3 Counterbalance
4 Brainstorm
4 Stifle
3 Pyroblast
3 Red Elemental Blast
3 Fire/Ice
4 Force of Will
1 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Grindstone
1 Engineered Explosives

SB:
1 Engineered Explosives
3 Trygon Predator
2 Echoing Truth
1 Gaea's Blessing
1 Pithing Needle
1 Red Elemental Blast
2 Pyroclasm
4 Relic of Progenitus

This Top8 list from Mike Altizer is more resemblant of Brassman CounterTop, featuring a red plash over white and black, though it also resembles a more traditional Painter's deck with Red Blasts to go with Painter's Servant. It also features a singleton Dreadnought to go with the four Stifles.

I'll put up my own list in a bit.

Interesting lists, in that they resemble my list from a year ago.

This deck is very different from EPIC painter, in that it plays Tarmogoyf.

This makes it almost strictly better. Didn't Adam play his tarmogoyfs on the board to give him some credit. Plus this deck has a better name.

Goyf, Swords, Daze and no Lim-Dul's Vault. One's a combo deck, the other has roughly the same 45 cards every aggro-control deck plays in Legacy.

This list is pretty similar to jazzykat's Next Level Painter seen here (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13263).

Which was derived from EPIC Painter

This started from EPIC painter. My biggest issue with EPIC painter was, I needed to stop being beaten down and comboing out wasn't always fast enough (Especially now that everyone and their brother are playing Grip. Thus I put in Goyf and Shackles MD. We learned from the GP that 4/4 CB/Top was tech even with trinket mages so the top count was upped.

Thank you for mangling my name. I certainly appreciate it.

[/sarcasm]

I'll post more about the deck later. But that really irritated me.

Also, why did somebody who wasn't me post a thread about my deck? That's confusing.

Also, expect a tournament report this weekend. I just have to finish up a couple of other things first. This month is pretty busy for me.

...apologies, didn't mean any offense to anybody. I just want to clarify what the deck is.

Anyways, yes this deck is basically Legacy CounterTop modified to include Painter's Grindstone. It's a "Legacy Blue" deck at the core, with a very powerful combo built-in.

Next Level Painter was kinda off the page, so I missed it. Anyways, this deck does have a better name.

Didn't the same thing happen with Solidarity?

@List: Was Fabricate tested at all in the Trinket Mage slot? They fill the same roll but Fabicate can get you painter. The down side is you lose the body.

I'm considering cutting a Foothills for another blue fetch, but I'm not going below 3 Foothills, I want to be able to easily fetch the basics.
