<System> Player Lost
Basically i was swinging in with lethal (pro blue). He wanted to make his shapeshifter a phage so he could block and not die. I tried to swords before he gets the Phage, so he doesn't gain life and still dies.
I'm right here right? Like i can swords that Shapeshifter, and he is just a noob yes?

Even under the M10 rules changes, you can play a Swords in response to Shapeshifter's "2: Discard a Card" ability.
I really hope this is an isolated incident. The last thing we need is M10 making MWS dumber.

I figured as much. Like i had no idea what he was saying, but i figured if he can play the ability, I can respond, no matter what rules we are playing under.

And this is with the more "intuitive" rules. God how did we get by with the old "confusing" rules.

Vesuvan Shapeshifter? If so, morphing doesn't use the stack, so you'd have to wait until it morphed. But that's not the reason he provided. EDIT: Whoops, guess I took to long to write that. Yeh, if it uses the stack, it can be responded to... /whistle.
(Sidebar: Oh, hey, D_S, we've done some MWS... didn't realize you were this person... /wave...)

Here's the issue. Look at the guy's name: OmegaDeath666
If you look around a bit on the Beating Your Head thread, he'll pop up a *couple* times. He's just one of those guys that it's best to avoid. He gets his own twisted version of the rules stuck in his head, and refuses to learn the right way.

Ah, will have to read that thread to know who to avoid...

It was not the morph one, it was Volrath's The one used in Full english breatfast.
Of course he was also trying to run Full English breakfast under the new rules so that should have tipped me off...

If idiots couldn't be bothered to learn the old rules what makes you think they be bothered to learn the new rules? The people playing on Magic Workstation will be as stupid as they ever were so don't count on that situation improving any.

The new rules arn't even in effect yet, and the changes have nothing to do with this scenario too.

Game name said new rules (maybe?) I mean like you said it didn't matter. I guess thats what I get for playing on MWS.
Thanks for everyone that confirmed he was an idiot.

Full English Breakfast works the same in the new rules as it always did, granted that it's not that great anymore. Also, not sure if you mentioned this, but I'm not clear about which ability he was using to discard a card. The "2: Discard a card." ability can be responded to before the Shapeshifter changes, but if it were something like Survival of the Fittest then it can't be responded to before the change.

I found one person calling me a noob because I discarded 3 cards to Wild Mongrel AFTER blockers have been declared, but before damage. He insisted a lot that I could only pump him before blockers declaration under M10 rules, which seems pretty stupid. Was he right, or just a moron that hates losing to mongrel?

You are able to play instants and abilities after blockers are declared and before the damage is dealt.
When Wizards announced that combat damage didn't use the stack anymore, people somehow stopped reading and didn't bother to find out how it actually would work.

On MWS, magic rules complexity has always been a way to cheat for some players. The best about MWS is that they can leave as soon as they understand that their opponent knows what he does. M10 rules switch is a new way to cheat by exploiting the fact that most players are still not used to them.

This.
Really, people. NOTHING else has changed. Like, for honestly. The only change is that damage doesn't use the stack. That's it. It's really not that hard.
