I'm interesting in purchasing a magic playmat, but haven't really looked into the matter until recently. I know for a fact that many of you have far more experience with these than I, so I'd be grateful if you could provide me with some information:

1. What are the best places to purchase Playmats?
2. Are there any particular "industry standard" brands which are of high physical/artistic quality?
3. Can I find a list of all the cards that have been done?
4. Where can I find playmats with art other than magic cards (anime, tv shows, movies, typical stuff)?
5. Does anyone do custom playmats?

Thanks.

If you want custom, artists will gladly draw on a blank mat for a nominal fee, or you can easily get whatever you want printed on one by the many custom printing shops on the web.

If someone wants to buy a GP playmat at a tournament I'm at, let me know because I have a pile I don't want.

Custom printing shops? Is that like something where I can submit them an appropriately sized jpg and they will print it onto the mat? Also, where can I get a blank mat?

I think it's on page 10.

I think it's on page 10.

Found it, though it doesn't actually provide much information about where to get the custom mats done. By custom, I don't really mean drawing, but the affixing of a picture (high quality jpg) to the mat. Can normal print shops do this? I would think you would need some kind of special device.

You need a Mat printer like some shops use for printing on mouse pads

I get blank playmats off ebay

I have 2 in my tube that I use one with art by JK post Alexander and other artist from sifferent Pro tour stops

and one I draw on while waiting for rounds to begin.

I use prisma color markers and fine art pens along with about 100 sharpies of different size and color. I have also been know to bust out my prisma color pencils on occasion.

almost any print shop that offers custom mouse pads can do them problem is cost, I talked to a local print shop about playmats once and its a minimum order of 150 at $6 each if i provide the playmats myself. Since they have to setup and everything for them.
