With M10 coming around and nerfing our beloved Mogg Fanatic, is it time to dust off our Cursed Scrolls and give them another shot? Or should we focus on finding another 1-drop creature to take our goblin's place?
Discuss.

what deck are you talking about? goblins will never play Scrolls (it isn't a goblin and they know better uses for their mana), burn seems not to care about rules changes that much (fanatic still attacks for some turns and then blocks Tarmo, shooting to the opponent's head) and zoo has access to a lot of great first drops even w/o fanatics (Nacatl, Figure, Mancer, Ape, Elite etc.)

Oddly enough, my zoo deck hasnt used Mogg Fanatic in a loooong time and I do run 2 Cursed Scrolls currently. They have been great as a mid-late game topdeck.

Really any non-Goblins deck that currently currently uses Mogg Fanatic. And with Counterbalances running around all over the place, it seems like it might be good to sneak one in before they go online so you can keep doing damage to them after the lock comes down. Of course both could even be an option, as MF is still pretty good at getting in for a couple of turns and blocking a Goyf.

Run two at most. Pithing Needle is still pretty highly used in the SB.

For some decks, I suppose scroll could be beneficial for damage, but for the most part; I try to assess cards based on their potential for card advantage when I am trying to slip them in a deck. Most of the more popular creatures in the format are immune to scroll and a deck like merfolk can be impeded by them for a bit, get two lords online and cope. The latter maneuver requires time though, so maybe scrolls could fit in to a few decks.
For a deck like goyf-sligh, I think scroll has fallen victim to a combination of not being tested and other cards providing more damage now and allowing for one to maximize their options as far as mana resources being used go for that turn. Scroll could be a beneficial card to test, but in the end, requiring three mana for an activation seems a bit cumbersome at times when you could find instant gratification in the form of whatever burn spell they are replacing.
I see scrolls as a nice way of halting Bobs and sowers from stealing games though.
Scroll seems like a card that is worth trying out in goyf-sligh if someone is looking for a build that is aiming for a strategy similar to Three Deuce as far as attempting to couple a sligh strategy with added versatility/flexibility in card choices.

I'm testing cursed scroll in eva green atm with really good results. He can be huge against merfolks, confidants and even for winning goyf wars and many more things. My late game against control decks is not so hard anymore because of the scroll.
For my next tourney i'm gonna play scroll instead of seal, i think seal isnt that nessecary in my meta anymore and scroll became much better with the rise of merfolks, zoo and landstill(i'm talking about the meta here).

Yeah, I was thinking about it and an active scroll could really cut down on the explosiveness of merfolk. Not that survival elves is as heavily-played as merfolk, but a scroll could be bad news for them too: it fucks with their symbiotes and also forces them to play lords more cautiously. Goblins get out of control pretty fast in many games, but an active scroll could still be pretty rad against them...it at least mitigates a bit of the piledriver insanity.
I haven't tested in firsthand or anything, but scroll seems like it could have a fair amount of potential in theory.

Wrong. According to M10 Rules changes, it will either block tarmo or shoot an opponent's head, not both.

Wrong. According to M10 Rules changes it can block and shoot an opponent's head...it just wont do its damage to goyf.

Why? Did I miss something? He declares blockers (Fanatic blocking Goyf) and then shoots 1 to the head. Whats wrong with that?
