So, if an opponent Stifles the Imprint triggered ability of my Chrome Mox, will i have to pitch a card to it in any case? I ask this because today it happened and my opponent believed that i had to waste away a card to Mox anyway, while i told him that, since imprint doesn't resolve, i don't have to pitch a card. Who's right?

The text on the card is:
When Chrome mox comes into play, you may remove a ... card in your hand from the game.

If he stifles, you can't remove a card. Otherwise it's optional. (It could sometimes makes sense to play it that way in storm combo.)

Also, if it was the case where you had to remove a card, then you should still be able to make the mox make mana, which wouldn't make any sense if the ability was countered.
