View Full Version : Show and Tell, CIP-trigger, Humility
My opponent plays Show and Tell and puts into play Wood Elves and I put Humility into play. Does the elves' trigger still go to stack? So is this a different scenario to Humility already being in play before CIP-creature is played?

Show and Tell puts the objects into play/onto the battlefield at the same time. Now we check whether there is a triggered ability whos trigger condition was met. Since Humility removed the ability, there is non. So no trigger for you.
The Meddling Mage example is different, because Meddling Mage doesn't have a Triggered ability, it has a static one that creates a replacement effect that affects how it comes into play. So you choose a card name before Meddling Mage actually comes into play, and before its ability is removed by Humility.
but I think you can nail Humility with Harmonic Sliver itself
1. If you're answering rules questions: know, don't just think.
2. No, you cannot, since the Sliver wont have an ability animore that could've triggered.
Like in the case of Golgari Grave Troll, he gets counters when he comes into play, and the counters still stay there and are unaffected by Humility.
Which is completely different since, again, we don't have a triggered ability here but a static one, like in the Meddling Mage example.

The Golgari Grave-Troll thing is different in the same was that you still name a card for Meddling Mage or Dimir Aquaducts comes into play tapped under Blood Moon. These things are static abilities, yes, but it's that their abilities generate a placement effect. They have an ability that modifies how they come into play, and before they're in play Humility/Blood Moon can't affect them.
