Hey guys

This deck started out as scepter chant, until I found out that a card called krosan grip ruined my day. I still liked the scepter, but realize that basing a deck around it is foolish. I slowly added more speed and less scepters to the point where it is now.

Plainswalkers:
1 Ajani Vengeant

Creatures:
2 Exalted Angel
4 Meddling Mage
4 Serra Avenger

Artifacts:
1 Isochron Scepter

Enchantments:
4 Standstill

Instants:
4 Force Of Will
4 Brainstorm
3 Cunning Wish
3 Swords To Plowshares
3 Counterspell
3 Lightning Bolt
1 Lightning Helix

Land:
4 Tundra
3 Volcanic Island
1 Plateau
4 Flooded Strand
2 Polluted Delta
4 Mishra's Factory
3 Island
2 Plains

Sideboard:
2 Relic Of The Progenitus
3 Red Elemental Blast
1 Pyroblast
1 Blue elemental Blast
1 Stifle
1 Orim's chant
1 Swords To Plowshares
1 Echoing Truth
1 Lightning Bolt
1 Counterspell
1 Enlightened Tutor
1 Return To Dust

Now I have been wondering a couple of things:
1: is is worth it to have a wishboard/should I cut down wish targets a bit?
2: I really like being able to run REB, and burn helps speed up the game and gets me out of tricky situations, but is it worth it to run red?
3: should I try to fit in Engineered Explosives and if yes, replacing what?
4: My mana is almost always used up, which is why I left out counterbalance/top. Should I try to fit it in?
5: Ajani helps me a lot; tapping down creatures/manlands, doing extra damage and/or killing all their lands helps a lot and can actually win the game against control. however, I have seen the huge amount of destruction that elspeth can do. Should I switch Ajani for elspeth?
6: against most matchups, a helix/bolt on a stick is devastating, and I essentially have 4 in the deck (wish/tutor) but will only grab it when I need it. is it worth it to run the 1 scepter?

I'm going to take this list to FNM tonight and see how I do. I any of you have suggestions of any kind, let me know! I want to make this deck as good as possible.

I think that 2 Wish is enough. Try 1-2 ETutor in the MD to find Scepter/Standstill better. I would also run 4 Bolts and probably no Helix. You can also consider Aether Vial and Grim Lavamancer! if you're playing Red, since Turn 1 Grim Lavamancer and Turn 2 Standstill is pretty strong. Overall, I like the deck's idea but the Wishboard seems messy and undirected. Refer to Wishstill as to what are the crucial spells to wish. You only need to wish for a few targets and since you're not playing control, Wish becomes less powerful. I would probably cut the wishes and play 3 Vials.

Love the title though :D

3 STPs? It's your only real answer to a stuck goyf.

3 cunning wish.

That said you could probably run 4 swords and a path in the board if you wanted more straight-up maindeck removal.

And speaking of wish, you may want to run a 1x pact of negation. The next turn sucks, but that ability may save you.

Run 4 fire/ice.
They help you vs. aggro.
They're great on scepter.
Also you can Ice untapped permanents and keep them tapped with ajani.

thanks for all the suggestions. So I ran this deck last night at my legacy FNM tournament, except with 2 wishes, 4 counterspells mainboard, and a more focused sideboard. I did pretty well, getting second place with a 4-1 record, beating zoo 2-0, aluren 2-0, survival 2-1, a janky burn deck 2-0, and amazingly somehow lost to merfolk 0-2 (i didn't draw into ANY removal or REB's, and both games were a turn 1 vial!!! so stupid...).

so yes, goyf is a small problem, but only a small one. I will usually counter it if I can and there is a good possibility I have removal, sometimes bolt will kill it (haha sometimes). Also with lots of angels, I can just fly over a goyf, or even name it with meddling mage (its like 50% they have a goyf in their deck, its usually what I blindly name if I don't know what they're playing).

Yeah, I used to run fire//ice, but now theyre kind of just sitting in the binder. Why? because...
-its only two damage
-it is good on a scepter, but I like a bolt better
-its only good against certain decks
-I can't rely on ajani/ice synergy because I only have one ajani.
Its a decent card, I just can't justify taking anything else out for it, but if you have any suggestions on what it would replace, let me know

Before last night, I considered making the deck just blue white and having it more focused it, but yesterday's matches helped me realize the versatility of running burn. I don't run that much, but they don't know that, they think its a kind of janky red including landstill. it gives the opponent one more thing to deal with :P
