i really love playing the leech (at least in standard) and was wondering if he is played in legacy at all. i haven't played the format for a while thats why i was asking. is he good enough for eva green or anything like that?

I think Leech may be better than Shade. Not requiring mana every turn is huge.

Somebody from The Grid in Manchester, CT played a green/black deck featuring Putrid Leech, Finks, and Maelstrom Pulse to I think around 17th place in the Boston 5K
And for reference I think its way better than Shade

Last time I played Eva Green I had some problems due to the low number of threats in the deck (only 16 in a deck without draw or manipulation). This often led to losses since a single StP bought for your opponent enough time to recover from the earlier distruption. Putrid Leech, while not stellar, is playable in the deck and IMHO is a great fit as creature 17-18.

While Putrid Leech is certainly not a bad creature we have to consider that every single deck that could play him would play 4 Tarmogoyf first. That doesn't leave all that many options.

No, that's not true. There are times when Putrid Leech is better than Tarmogoyf, like, when you want to deal lethal damage by your second turn and the bigger you can make a Tarmogoyf by that time is 3/4.
Also, Leech is a Zombie so if ever there would be a succesful zombie deck, Leech would probebly be better/as good as Tarmogoyf in that deck.

yep, worth noting: much like nantuko shade and tombstalker, putrid leech has dissynergy with copies of itself i.e. better draw 1 leech & 1 something else (eg shade) than 2 leeches

It isn't as bad imo. Sure, taking 4 a turn is harsh but having two 4/4's on the table is still racealicious. In any case it's better than having the multiples turn out vanilla (or uncastable).

At least with Leech you can play multiple ones unlike 2 early Tombstalkers. And unlike having 2 Shades, you can use both of their abilities. Leech seems decent enough. I like that he is unaffected by graveyard removal.

Leech is good in formats where the dominant creatures are Grizzly Bears and the dominant removal is Lightning Bolt.

It is REALLY good in all-commons pauper. Dominant threat there is still Wild Mongrel.

The problem with Putrid Leech is that it's black.
Black is getting very demanding of your life total in Legacy. It wants it for Thoughtseize. It wants it for Dark Confidant. It wants it for Snuff Out. And if you're playing multiple colors, which you have to be to play Putrid Leech, it wants it for Fetchlands.

Yes it's true. The fact that Putrid Leech is ocasionally better than Tarmogoyf doesn't mean anyone would drop Tarmogoyfs of the list and replace them with Leeches.

Goyfs are seriously overrated.

Here on the Source, Goyf has become Hitler... in that as with Godwin's law, as a thread grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.

Those cards are all terrible in an aggro deck except for Snuff Out (although I'd argue that Path to Exile is generally better in an aggro deck if you have fetches). If you're playing Putrid Leech, you're really looking for a faster Goyf to complement your 4 real goyfs. Beating for 4 on turn 3 is really insane while paying mana to not threaten considerable damage is bad.

So, you think that dark confidant is less aggro than Snuff Out?
Dark Confidant is really an aggro card, but definitely not combo with Snuff Out.

The fact that Confidant only swings for two, and the fact that aggro has no way to protect him, makes him a weak aggro card. That's why most Zoo builds don't run him.
