I have been told by someone who is adamant in their beliefs that if you equip a 0/1 creature with an uncharged jitte, if it attacks and is not blocked, the Jitte would still gain counters even though no damage is dealt.

I tried to find the answer in the FAQs and new rules set but cannot myself figure it out.

In M10 is 0 damage the same as an amount of combat damage?

Thanks.

Why does everyone believe M10 turned the world upside down?

Jitte triggers when damage is done. If there is 0 damage to resolve, then there is no trigger. M10 or no M10. People should stop making up extra rules.

The reason why you can't find it in the FAQ or the new ruling, is because they made no such ruling.

Thanks... I figured as much and that's what I told him, but since I didn't do anything more than skim the rules and battle diagram of the rules changed I backed down.

Looks like people can get away with pretty much anything as long as they blame it on the rules change. Let's all thank WotC for simplifying our lives!

118.8. If a source would deal 0 damage, it does not deal damage at all. That means abilities that trigger on damage being dealt won’t trigger.
