I picked up an Italian Limited Sol Ring (FBB) on eBay for $17 shipped over the weekend, and to my surprise, this little beauty was pretty badly miscut! And the top right corner (if looking at the front face) appears to be Alpha cut? It's hard to tell due to the thickness of the border but it seems more rounded than the others.

Anybody know how much a misprint like this might add to (or detract from) a highly playable card such as this one's value?

You can play miscuts (at judge's discretion) in opaque sleeves.

Yeah if you play it unsleeved. But seriously, who would ever do that? Ever?

What makes it marked or unplayable? As long as it fits in a sleeves or is the same size as a normal card you should have no problem playing it in a tournament.

Then there's the answer.

No decent judge would disallow a normal sized magic card in opaque sleeves, even if it is miscut. The only case I can think of where this would even be an issue is if the name is cut off or you get 1/4 of four different cards.
Now stop hijacking my thread! It's not about whether or not you can play miscuts, it's about how much this type of miscut affects a card's value.

The value goes up for a collector, down for joe consumer. Also, it can't be alpha.

I'm aware of this. There is a particular kind of miscut, however, called an "Alpha cut" that causes one or more corners be rounded like Alpha cards.
Get Gunslinga in this thread, or PM him or something, he'll have a pretty good idea on the value. If i remember right he used to market pretty heavily in miscuts on MOTL.

A lot of Italian cards from Revised and Renaissance were badly miscut. It is not rare at all for them to look like that. 2 out of 3 of my italian city of brass look like that.

get 1/4 of four different cards.
That would be the absolute tech.
"I draw... Ancestral Recall/Demonic Tutor/Black Lotus/Time Walk, you're just going to have to believe me that it's supposed to be Ancestral Recall."
Next round "Yeah it's totally supposed to be Black Lotus, I'm going to play it and activate for 3 blue and play my normal Ancestral Recall and normal Time Walk..."
