Has anyone tried to use this combination? I had a friend do this to me once: What would happen is that before the Gargadon came out, he would cast reins and then sack ALL of my creatures that he just took to it. This would give him a 9/7 fatty and me with no guys to stop it.

This seems better in casual than in Legacy, where you rarely have more than 3-4 creatures on the board at any given time. In that situation, I'd rather run more Shackles, Sowers, or Threads than a two card combo.

Oh man, Bryant's got a new combo for his Godo EDH deck.

How's he going to cast Reins of Power again?

He could use Insurrection or Twist Allegiance. They cost significantly more, but a Godo EDH deck isn't necessarily built for speed.

I've been using this (and similar things like Spawning Pit) in EDH for a little while now. It's awesome!

You can already do this with Word of Seizing, Grab the Reins, etc. though.

I mean, it's neat, but it hardly seems new in that case.

The trick is to use Forbidden Orchard, which also helps fix the mana problems in the deck.
