If it were unbanned, would it see play? I mean it's not used in Vintage anymore, based on lists I've seen, and its sort of a weak draw engine, but its still an efficient tutor. I don't really see it pushing anything over the edge, except maybe Storm or Belcher. Thoughts?

Can a mod edit my post and put the nifty list code in there? I'm lazy and I think it'd my my post much sexier.

Done, you lazy a-hole.... -Jander

I wouldn't be so sure. I'm certain that if there were a vote, at least 49% of legacy players would have Balance, Black Vise, Frantic Search, Gush, Oath of Druids, and Skullclamp come off the list. Legacy players are notoriously retarded.

What's the worst card on that list? I can't decide, they are all insanely good.

All those cards sound pretty balanced to me.

Skullclamp. It has the fewest available decks to slot into and is vulnerable to more hate than the other cards.

Black Vise would be so yummy against control.

Black Vise is perfectly fine.

Black Vise, I think, would be the lease ridiculous of those cards to come off the list. It's nuts in multiples but some games it only Lava Darts people a couple times.

It's not that it's a problem in multiples (I mean, it is, but...), it's that it's ridiculous in some matchups, to the point of being warping as hell. Imagine an aggressive deck backed up by Vise: what do you do, if you're playing control? Sure, you can Grip Vise, but if it starts taking big chunks out of your life total it reduces the effectiveness of your creature control cards a lot since they need fewer animals to connect to kill you. Alternately, if you just go for straight creature control, Vise will probably go all the way, or at least cut into your options if you're keeping your hand size down to play around it. It's also exceptionally good against Standstill, allowing you to pop it on your own turn when you play a threat, then force them to take a bunch of damage on their upkeep (as opposed to popping it during their end step and forcing them to discard).

Black Vise would basically become a universal or near universal anti-control card. You can argue about whether or not it would affect the format much or if control would adapt, but it's still going to make a splash if it comes off the list.

Black Vise would definitely see play though I don't know how much as the number of people playing control decks in the format isn't very high making the impact of this card pretty limited in that regard. It could however be used as a kill condition in Stasis decks providing a fast enough clock to possibly make the deck competitive; though I'm not sure.
