Hi, is there actually a thread about a UGR Stiflenought version especially without beeing the tempo ThreshThreshThreshThreshThresh + stifle/dreanought or the Dreadstill variant? If there is not i'd like to start some brainstorming about the list i wanna give a try in 2 weeks:

4 Tarmogoyf
3 Phyrexian Dreadnought
2 Trinket mage

4 Ponder
4 Brainstorm
4 Stifle
4 Force of Will
4 Daze
3 Spell Snare
4 Fire//Ice
2 Firespout
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Crucible of Worlds

1 Academy Ruins
4 Wasteland
1 Island
3 Polluted Delta
3 Flooded Strand
4 Tropical Island
4 Volcanic Island

Sideboard:

4 Pyroblast
2 Pithing Needle
2 Krosan Grip
1 Firespout
1 Engineered Explosives
3 Relic of Progenitus
2 Trygon Predator? - Dont know how to use those 2 slots.

I played Canadian Threshold this sunday on a lokal tournament lost to a couple of aggro-decks even goblins (but this game was bad luck) also i saw a lot more Aggro (most tribals like fish, goblins etc) around the other tables so i came up giving UGR a chance. I played StifleNought a long time in an 0815 Counterbalance build and some DreadStill lists but i feel like playing this deck needs to tempo up nearly as Canadian Threshold does cause on a mid-lategame they will have to many answers for the Dreadnought. My first thoughts where just adding the Dreadnoughts to the typical Threshold list but that caused to many slots and fails the typical disrupt plan of Threshold so i wanted to build a "new" list.

I think most of the Cards are specific for their colors, the Cruicible is maybe a weird choice as i dont play factories at all but with the wasteland lock you can hold some speed by keeping the opponent screwed or at least color screwed, also whats a bit more important to me - crucible gives backup against other land disruption.

- would like to get some ideas how this deck could be optimized.

If you're running Trinket Mages, there's really no reason not to run at least one Top. If you are already holding a Dreadnought and you draw a Trinket Mage, EE is your only option. Top is probably better than Ponder #4 in the mainboard.

In a deck with no Mishra's Factories, you're painfully low on Islands. Your only green cards are Goyfs, and you're only running six red cards main. I'd probably run three Tropical Island, three Volcanic Islands, and three basic Islands as a start, and then see if you can cut one of those for a fourth basic Island. If you see Extirpates in your metagame, you might run one Breeding Pool over one Tropical Island to make sure you can cast those Goyfs even against Extirpate.

I love all these genius new ideas, like.. where the only thing different is adding Goyf Rofl. Sorry, I'm a hater jk. I like the idea though, I thought about making a U/B stifle/nought/sinkhole/extirpate deck, then mind funeral just to punish the crap outta their land drops >.<

cut ponder, firespout, and fire//ice... add counterbalance, top, standstill... mana-base need serious work, more basics, more blue sources, probably should play trickbind as well
