This deck has evolved from my attempts to use a nice rare card Rings of the Brightheart. Firstly I tried to build a deck around Rings, but soon realized that puttin Rings in E-Tutor toolbox is far better 'cause running >1 Rings means more dead topdecks. First attempt was to abuse it in Death and Taxes shell, but the brokeness of Rings + Planeswalker or Rings + Wasteland moved me into more control direction. Here's what I have now:
LANDS (24)
4 Wasteland - Great with Rings
4 Windswept Heath - Nice with Rings, shuffle for Top
2 Wooded Foothills - Nice with Rings, shuffle for Top
2 Savannah
2 Plateau
1 Taiga
2 Horizon Canopy - Nice with Crucible, lifeloss is... well, see below...
5 Plains
1 Forest
1 Mountain
1-DROPS (12)
3 Enlightened Tutor - One of the key cards
1 Relic of Progenitus - Toolbox singleton, works with Rings
4 Swords to Plowshares - Obv
2 Sensei's Divining Top - Draw engine with Rings
2 Engeneered Explosives - all-round answer.
2-DROPS (10)
4 Lightning Helix - removal for tribal and utility creatures, very effective against :r:-based aggro like Goyfsligh.
2 Eternal Dragon - Shuffle for Top, manafixer, wincon, usable with Rings
1 Runed Halo - Toolbox singleton, wide-range proactive answer.
1 Isochron Scepter - Toolbox singleton to abuse StP, Helix and Chantlock from SB.
2 Sylvan Library - Additional topdeck manipulator, becomes draw engine with huge number of lifegain in the deck (Helix, Ajani V., Pulse), becomes wincon with Words of War/Wilding, tutorable.
3-DROPS (7)
2 Pulse of the Fields - Gives you needed time, great against aggro, great synergy with Sylvan Library.
1 Crucible of Worlds - Toolbox Singleton, creates wastelock, negates StaX and land destroy.
1 Rings of the Brightheart - Toolbox singleton, the main reason I created this deck. Don't do a shit on its own, but makes good cards broken.
1 Words of War/Wilding - Toolbox Singleton, great synergy with Sylvan Library. Looks like the red one is better.
2 Eternal Witness - Just dunno what to put here.
4-DROPS (7)
1 Wrath of God - Baam!
2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant - Broken with Rings
2 Ajani Venegant - Broken with Rings
1 Humility - Toolbox singleton, very unfair card.
1 Moat - Toolbox singleton, very unfair card.
SIDEBOARD
4 Orim's Chant - Anticombo, sometimes chantlock
3 Krosan Grip
1 Choke - Anti-:u: toolbox singleton
2 Firesprout - additional help against swarm decs
1 Aura of Silence - Toolbox singleton, usable with Rings
1 Tormod's Crypt - Additional GY hate against Loam and Dredge
1 Wheel of Sun and Moon - Toolbox singleton vs Dredge, Loam, Painter
1 Ensnaring Bridge - to stop Progenitus, 'Nought and everything else with Words of War/Wilding or opponent with discard.
2 Free Slots - reserved for metagame
As you can see, many ideas of the deck were taken from Quinn, its praetor Rabid Wombat and other :w:-based control decks of the past. It also tries to abuse Sylvan Library in a way I haven't seen before: through Pulse of the Fields to have plain CA.
It plays like control deck should play: survive early game, gain some control, then turn on your CA engines, drop something scary and win.
The decklist is untested, but has a great number of synergies and options to fight against different opponents, so I believe the deck can become competitive.
I'll be glad to hear any suggestions!
