Do you know if this store has any plans for large legacy events with large prize support in the future? or are they just testing the waters with legacy at the moment?

I don't know of any large tournaments happening in the future. Yesterday during the weekly EDH events 6 people expressed interest in playing legacy. I mentioned that we might be able to put together a weekly event. It should be a lot of fun.
I'll attempt the trip a couple of times.

This is awesome. My friends and I have been looking for an easier-to-access weekly Legacy thing in southeast Michigan. Hopefully, Legacy players in the area show up regularly to keep this going. I hope to see you guys on Tuesday.

Just FYI, Get Your Game On hosts weekly Legacy tournaments on Wednesday nights, at 6. They regularly get around 20 people.
I might stop by next week.
More Legacy in MI is always good!

I know but making it out to Ann Arbor during the week at 6 is an impossibility for me. If I'm lucky, I get off work at 4 and my shop is in Sterling Heights (Macomb County). Right during the time I'd be driving out to Ann Arbor is rush hour. Wednesdays at 6 is a terrible time for me. Garden City at 7PM is much easier.

Ah, fair enough. I didn't know if you knew about the GYGO tourneys, so I was just throwing that out there.

A meeting at work came up and I will not be able to play next Tuesday, but the event will still go on. I am making every effort to be there the following week. Good luck to everyone who shows up.

I stopped by the end of the tournament and was pleased that it got sanctioning. I will be going out of my way to play next week. Thanks to all who attended. I will see you guys next week.

Yeah it was sanctioned, the judge didn't seem pleased to be running the event something about not being aware that it was going on so he was more focused on the other events there. Is there one scheduled for this week?
luckymartyr
08-31-2009, 01:23 PM
Yes, there is an event schedueled for this week. I called Pandemonium twice before asking about posting the event on The Source and they gave me the go ahead and the suggested 5$ entry fee. There will be multiple events going on that night including EDH, drafting and a weekly WOW torunament, so the judge will have multiple respsonsibilities. Most of the events that I have gone to have also not had access to a DCI level 2 judge anyway, so I didn't think this will be a problem. Hope to see everyone there this Tuesday.

Yeah no need for a level 2 judge for a $5 8 man tourney in terms of rules judging, more about being pissed about registering people and not keeping time and then being mad when we go over time limit is what i was talking about. But from what i heard that judge is just pissy in general, i guess im used to more customer service at a weekly than gp type service.

Want to thank everyone for showing up every week. I wanted to know if we could capture more people by changing the day of the week or making these happen every other week. I don't think Wednesday would be a good idea because of the GYGO tourney in Ann Arbor and Friday is dedicated toward FNM. I also don't think sanctioning is all that important to anyone so getting a dedicated judge for the day of the tourney shouldn't really be an issure. How would everyone feel about moving this tournament to a different day in the week?

Even though I can't make it because I have classes on tuesdays, at least I know what night it is for the future. I will eventually make it by there. Maybe one night I'll have a class get cancelled or something and I'd be swinging in there for sure. The best advice I can give you is to just continue to build the community. I'm really glad Pandemonium is still supporting Legacy. Just tell them to keep up the good work.

I'm coming out today. I couldn't make it last week because I got out of work late and live 45 minutes away. We've got to convince Jon to play tonight.

One of the FNM regulars built amonored burn deck. He is really interested in the format and I think he will probably play. On a side note because burn is one of the best entry level decks my sideboard is probably going to include a play set of kitchen finks.

I'm so glad I'm back in the NW, our weekly consisted of 0 burn decks this week! Too bad I was still packing the CoP:Red in the sideboard...

What's up, Lenny? Sorry I hadn't gotten in contact with you before you left. I guess I thought you'd be here longer. We talked about moving Legacy to Saturdays to make if more convenient for most, if not all, parties involved. Let me know how it's going out there.

Hope we're doin it this Saturday I'd like to see some Legacy action, maybe even Legacy w/ Zendikar action (guess it'd have to be non sanctioned if that were the case).

Is the weekly Tuesday event still happening? What time? What are entry/prize details?

If I were to guess I would say it was moved to Saturday. Sadly, due to a large lack of organization, I'm willing to wager half of everyone will go on Tuesday and half of everyone will go on Saturday, making the playerbase too thin to succeed.

Actually, Spencer, it's still on Tuesday. I stopped in just two days ago and there were easily 20 magic players in the house. Most of them had elected to play EDH that night but whatever, that's cool too. In other words, go on Tuesday and bring Legacy and EDH decks for a guaranteed night of gaming. On the Legacy side of things it's still $5 and prize is always total of entry fees returned as store credit.
Saturday is just type 2 at 2pm...so it's

I am gunna be in town this weekend are you officially not holding any legacy on Saturday? I need some practice before GYGO does there thing on sunday.

I won't be there on Saturday. I will be going to FNM today and will ask the other people who play legacy what there preferences are. Tuesday nights would conflict with Zendikar drafts which seem to be all the rage right now (who doesn't want to open revised dual lands or enemy colored fetchlands). Whatever day we choose we should make up some fliers and post them in the store.
