Since I love Opposition, and did not see a good Opposition thread around, I decided to make this one. This thread is for all discussion of Opposition Elves, please no x4 Goyf x4 Call of the Herd x4 Beacon.

Lands
7 [IA] Snow-Covered Forest
4 [B] Tropical Island
2 [ON] Wooded Foothills
4 [DIS] Breeding Pool
2 [ON] Windswept Heath
1 [LG] Pendelhaven
Creatures
4 [IN] Elvish Champion
4 [LRW] Wren's Run Vanquisher
4 [LRW] Imperious Perfect
3 [AP] Sylvan Messenger
3 [FUT] Tarmogoyf
4 [B] Llanowar Elves
4 [DIS] Coiling Oracle
4 [SC] Wirewood Symbiote
3 [IA] Fyndhorn Elves
Spells
4 [UD] Opposition
3 [BOK] Umezawa's Jitte
Sideboard
SB: 2 [LRW] Sower of Temptation
SB: 2 [DIS] Trygon Predator
SB: 3 [TSP] Krosan Grip
SB: 4 [ALA] Relic of Progenitus
SB: 4 [IA] Hydroblast

The idea behind the sb is to bring in a stronger game versus ThreshThreshThresh, Relic and Hydroblast are there for things like Ichorid, Loam, and TES which are bound to pop up in a tournament.

With that said, I would love ideas to improve the deck. Is running Wren's Run Packmaster worth it? Does Tradewind Rider somehow deserve a spot? Is Deranged Hermit good, or is it crap since so many decks run Pyro?

First of all, put in the fourth Goyf. It doesn't make any sense to only run three Goyfs when you play cards like Coiling Oracle.

Then, I think Garruk should be in here somewhere, and Elvish Archdruid deserves to be played as a 4-of as well.

It may also be nice to play the Natural Order backup plan, since you play the creatures and 2GG to win the game is stupid good.

Huh?

Deranged Hermit is pretty good in there too, since you can usually accelerate it out early enough.

I was referring more to a list without elves in the Goyf comment.

Archdruid is complete crap when compared to the other lords. A t2 Perfect will probably take you all the way against Thresh, and Champion gives you forestwalk which is insanely important.

Goyf does not really synergize well with the rest of the deck, which is why I play 3. I rather drop an Oracle t2 and chain into to some land, or just get the Symbiote+Oracle combo going. The 4th Goyf should be tested more, but Ive come to liking 3.

A turn 2 Prefect is not going to take you all the way against Thresh. Ever.

But play a combination of the three. Especially with Wirewood Symbiote, you'll pump out a lot of mana in a very short time. And besides, even if its not better than the other Lords here (and I'm not sure that's true), it's a Hell of a lot better than Coiling Oracle.

Opposition synergizes with good creatures, and Goyf is a very good creature. I'm not seeing the lack of synergy.

A turn 2 Goyf is a lot better than a turn 2 Oracle.

Additionally, I'm wondering if your Elf count is high enough to support Messenger. Maybe you should play a different CA engine instead.

How the hell is Archdruid better than Coiling Oracle?

Oracle is accel, and provides a steady ca source when you land a Symbiote on the table. Would you seriously rather be staring at Archdruid+Symbiote than an Oracle? [snip]

Personal attacks like this one are a BIG no-no. Don't start accumulating warnings so early. ~Nihil Credo

This deck is not Survival, you do not need crazy amounts of mana. Goyf is good, and should probably go to a 4of in place of Messenger, but seeing as my meta is infested with Spell Snare and Cbtop I rather have something that provides ca and dodges Cb.

I'd run Quirion Ranger (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=3674) over Wirewood Symbiote: she's an elf and can protect your land from Wasteland. She can also give you an extra mana by tap, return, play, tap.

Edit: Oh, I see, you want tech with the Coiling Oracle/Wirewood Symbiote.

...actually, yes?

Oracle + Symbiote is slow as Hell. Meanwhile, the other guy is building up cards that don't suck and is using them against you.

Archdruid at least provides a pump.

Sylvan Messenger is only really good when you can reliably get two or more hits... you currently run 27 elves. It might just barely be enough, but it won't be gamebreaking CA like Ringleader is in Goblins.
