Just not sure...
Im casting Drain Power.
Can opponent just say that he taps all lands in reaction, without playing any spell for that mana?
Same question about piracy...
Just not sure if this does something when there is no manaburn anymore.

You get all the mana that your opponent has in their pool with drain power. So if they tap all their lands for mana in response without using it for anything, you still get all that mana.
Piracy doens't take mana from their mana pool, so the card now does absoutly nothing, except tap them out.

With Drain Power, sure, he can tap all his lands in response, but if he doesn't play anything, then you still get all the mana that's in his manapool. In other words, the net result should be the same either way. His lands are tapped, and you get the mana.
Piracy is different, however. As his mana pool isn't emptied into yours with this card. In response to your opponent could tap his lands so you couldn't use them. In other words, without mana burn, Piracy is pretty much useless.

Well have to check it closely about Piracy. I mean... If i am supposed to tap target player's lands it does not do anything while he can do that faster as i can... At all he will tap all his islands, but what with the mana in HIS pool? Well i may continue to next phase in my turn to empty his pool...?
Oh man. This seems awful...
By the way i found those cards yesterday on Gatherer while searching for blue Instant/sorcery cards with "land" in the text.

He will most likely tap all of his lands in response to your piracy, therefore not allowing you to tap any of them for mana.

Lately i added Mana Short to my deck. Basic strategy around this card is to tap opponents land at his EOT while i can put combo on table without any danger.
Piracy does the same now, but now it does not cause player to choose between manaburn or giving mana to me. Also sorcery...
