Ninjitsu and Planeswalkers

So this came up recently and I'd like it to be explained a bit more.

If I'm attacking and I declare it at a planeswalker, when I ninjitsu a guy in, is he forced into attacking the planeswalker? Can I choose a new target? Or is he forced to just attack the player because "Put into play tapped and attacking" is old wording that locks it into "attacking the player"?

702.46c A ninjutsu ability may be activated only while a creature on the battlefield is unblocked (see rule 509.1h). The creature with ninjutsu is put onto the battlefield unblocked. It will be attacking the same player or planeswalker as the creature that was returned to its owner’s hand.
