For those of you who stick with Survival, if you didn't already see it, it's time to do it. Foil DCI Survival:

Your comments? To me it's pretty much out-of-concept. "Survival of the fittest" should refer to something brutal and laws-of-nature-bound, not to a female shittie with dogs and snakes.

Oh, there's also this one. But nothing has really changed in here (fortunately):

Last but not least, this is a good remaking:

Not too bad for art on the O-Ring, the LRW one is still my favorite of (now) the three.

WTF!? That Survival picture sucks. I'll stick with the old old one.

I died a little inside when I saw the art for the survival, at least I know I won't have to buy a set.

Human > Wolf > Snake?

Human > Wolf > Snake?
= Lame

That picture has nothing to do with the name. At least the original picture went with the name.

Human > Wolf > Snake?

The new survival art is horrid. Rarely do I whine about art, but the new art is trash. If anything, I would have liked to have had a spinoff of the original art, maybe a similar scene from a different perspective.

That O-Ring art is a pretty lame too IMO. It looks like a day in care bear land gone wrong... Also, not a ring - should be Oblivion Rainbow  .

What's the matter with the new Survival art? You guys aren't into fantasy-literature-flavored-bestiality?

...And here I thought I had my finger on the pulse of the "Youth Culture."

Yeah, I think the new Survival art is pretty beautiful. The color palette is gorgeous and it has a funky sense of mystery about it. The original is perfect, but it's not like we don't have options.

Her draws play with lights and shadows in a incredible way. And she is also pretty pretty...

I really like the new card frames for a lot of cards, but I think that DCI Flooded Strand looks worse than the original Onslaught.

Love it or hate it, those Survivals are still pimp for their rarity.

New Survival looks like a Guay if Guay were drunk when she painted it.

At least the originals will drop in price a bit :)

Optimist!  I wish that were true, but the minimal amount being released leads me to believe the prices will stay the same.

By the way, what exactly are the print run numbers on judge promos? I've noticed some like Intuition are relatively expensive whereas others like Oath of Druids are pretty cheap (as in less than $20).

Pretty sure they are variable thats why the judges Minds desires and demonic tutors are rediculous while the regrowths, and oaths are lower.

Well, judging by Troll and Toad, they have Mind's Desire at $15 and Demonic Tutors at $50. Not so far off their Intuition at $45 and Oath of Druids at $20. Obviously playability (read demand) – as usual – may trump print runs. Anyway, it would still be nice to have some kind of ball park figure.

That O-Ring in asian language would be hot

The old Survival art is great because he's butchering another guy with a freakin' icepick. This is really crappy in comparison. I would have preferred an alternate art, but not this. They REALLY missed the mark on that one.

Judging by promo versions of many cards, we may conclude the arts on these cards wasn't even made for them, but bought by Wizards at market in some odd way. Many of them were not even drawn by regular Magic artists. And WTF that JPR Cunning Wish and Vindicate illustrations have to do with their actual cards?

SotF: Beautiful yes. Off concept, yes. The point of Sotf is brutality, hence sending creatures to the graveyard in favor of other creatures.

Isn't the concept of SotF more like pondering about the most suitable creature for a certain situation which translates into dropping certain concepts (discarding a creature card) in favor of others (replacing them with a creature card from your library)? At least that's how I would interpret it.

I really like the art on this new Survival. It's just too bad that it's foil.

Actually, the card art matches the direct meaning "Survival of the Fittest" spot on. You guys are only looking at it from the MtG standpoint, which is sacrificing a creature and replacing it with something else. In the new illustration, we're looking at Survival of the Fittest as in Darwinism's Natural Selection and "who is already at the top of the food chain". I'm sure we can all deduce that, through thousands of years humans have, through natural selection, come out on top. Hence: human > wolf > snake.

Stop confusing yourselves.

I like the thought behind the survival picture since it actually fits the name better than the old one. But the drawing (especially the snake) just suck :(

Too bad O-Ring is awful in another thing outside of enchantress and stax because I think the art is an interesting change for the better.

Has nobody even noticed that Flooded Strand uses pre-m10 wording? I was going to try to get a playset until I noticed that.

It really doesn't, since now I won't have to replace my foil playset now.
