An interesting, well written article by Josué López-Tercero.

Rompiendo el formato: Next Level Dredge en Legacy (http://noticias.magicevolution.com/2009/10/30/rompiendo-el-formato-next-level-dredge-en-legacy/)

The article is in spanish but i recommend you to read it ;)

That's really nice, but it'd be even better to actually be able to read it. The Babelfish Translation (http://uk.babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-home&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Fnoticias.magicevolution.com%2F2009%2F10%2F30%2Frompiendo-el-formato-next-level-dredge-en-legacy%2F&lp=es_en&btnTrUrl=Translate) isn't exactly the easiest crap to decipher ever.

It was good until he said the deck was so broken that it would ruin the format unless WotC takes immediate action. Winning one tournament doesn't mean Flash is back. . .

I fail to see anything new.

Also Ichorid is not that broken.

I read to the part where he said there were about two Relic of Progenitus in the field and that was about it for hate. I'd wager that a half skilled pilot could take almost any build of Ichorid through that tourney. The claims seemed reather ambitious.

Even a trained monkey could do that.

Anybody who has Leyline of the Void and was willing to mulligan to 1 in order to find it would have crushed his deck.

People still play leyline?

People run graveyard hate to beat Ichorid. Why wouldn't they use Leyline if it is an automatic win against a deck that can't even SB an answer to it?

What's funny is while playing this deck, I've had a lot of people mull into hate heavy hands without any gas at all.

I'm sure you've never had the feeling of dying to a pile of flying jellyfish and imps.

That list isn't really all that groundbreaking... He added 4 Lotus Petal and a Revilark... Both of which have been used in Dredge before.

If you didn't get the point already, there is no reason to discuss it anymore.

On average, a 1/1 or two still won't beat someone who starts with 0 cards, btw.

I dunno, but I play 3 Wispmare and 3 Chain of Vapor in my SB. Ichorid can answer a Leyline.

Sure, but if you're doing nothing for multiple turns you give me all the time I need to get rid of your multiple hate cards. Happened more than once to me, last time in a tournament the last weekend.

I will answer both of these with one simple statement:

Tell me how your experiences or card choices are relevant when I said Leyline would crush his deck.

The article's author posted his deck without a sideboard--Elfrago was pointing out commonly sideboarded answers to the problem you were posing. This deck is poised to better use all of these effects than "previous level dredge", IE Ichorid Dredge, because it runs more lands instead of LEDs and can more reliably cast its responses.

As a matter of fact, he does post his sideboard. He even explains his choices across several paragraphs!

"On the side I would opt for full version;
4 Unmask
4 Ancient grudge
4 Firestorm
1 Sadistic Hypnotist
1 Ancestror's Choosen
1 Woodfall primus "

Sorry about that then--in the space for a sideboard, the translator just put a bunch of question marks in mine . . .
