Whilst playing 5c Elementals in T2 for a while, I grew pretty fond of the deck and I would like to turn it into a fun casual deck I can play in 1on1 or multiplayer games.
I started with the structure the T2 deck relied on, because elementals didn't really have much to offer before Lorwyn was realeased.
Some lords and tutors
4 Horde of Notions
4 Incandescent Soulstoke
4 Flamekin Harbringer
Some Acceleration
4 Smoke Braider
4 Bloom Tender (likes Horde)
Some Card Advantage
4 Mulldrifter
4 Reveillark
That would make 28 cards and as the deck can become quite mana hungry, I'd play 24 or 23 lands along with the 8 mana critters. 60 - 28 - 23 = 9 slots left. At first I wanted to fit some huge ass beaters into here, like sets of Lord of Extinction and Forgotten Ancient, which would become more powerful the more opponents I faced.
But now I am wondering if some sort of toolbox wouldn't work better, like 1 Crib Swap, 1 Fault Grinder (idk, land destruction against many usually sucks, but one copy wouldn't hurt, especially against utility lands), 2 Cloudtresher and 1 Doomgape (should play nicely with Horde).
What do you think works better? Or maybe a mix with 4 of either LoE or FA and 5 other elementals?
The mana base will probably be something like
4 Primal Beyond
4 Reflecting Pool
4 Ancient Ziggurat
4 Vivid Crag
???
I would really appriciate your help because I don't really have that many decks I play and so I want to make the few I build really work. I do hope the deck will be a blast to play because it offers the possibility to do a lot of different things.
