This card seems like its worth a look in this format. Creatures get countered all the time, how awesome would it be to go okay counter my Goyf, here comes another, YAY!
Just an idea.
Don't worry, I come with in a flameproof box.

Maybe it could find its way in a SB somewhere.

Any deck that uses NO/Pro would like this card I think
What's that? Counter my Gofy? Have fun with a 10/10 Protection from your Face.

I used in a Food Chain Goblin list in a tournament.
The only time I drew it, I put a Siege-Gang into play and won the game.
Also, your opponents face is hilarious when you get to use it! =]

I saw it twice in Vestal this week-end.
First time was against Alix Hatfield when he played 2 in the same turn after I countered one of his creature with CB. It hit Grim Lavamancer and Qasali, which was not as good as what I would except from a that much restrictive card. I don't say it's not good, but in Zoo, I feel it's just doesn't do enough.
Second time was in a Progenitus Bant but he didn't had the opportunity to play it the entire game (he showed me it after).
I've mixed feelings and I can't say it's bad, but it's for sure not as good as we could think.

Yeah I had a similar experience in Vestal yesterday, I dazed a turn 2 Wren's Run Vanquisher against someone playing Di's Elf-Prog List and he Summoner's Trapped unfortunately for me, he DID hit Progenitus.

My teammate Louis ran summoning trap in his sideboard of Bant Natural Order and said it was his MVP all day. If he knew how to write a deck reg and didn't forget to write down progenitus then proceed to get deck checked in the last round and was forced to remove progenitus from his deck, he would have top 8'd.

Oh, Louis.... Umm at least he could still NO for Goyf?

He did natural order for goyf against landstill in round 8. He lost, if it was progenitus he would have won because his opponent said he had no answer to it.

I'll be honest; that was really frustrating. You had two Counterbalances in play, and time was running out in the match, so I was really looking to land some fat on the board to end the game. Instead, out of the top fourteen cards of my library, the best I could do was a Lavamancer and a Pridemage. And that's despite sideboarding in additional threats in Jotun Grunts and Eternal Witnesses (a very funny card with Summoning Trap).
I did have another Pridemage in play already, so I was able to blow up the Counterbalances and resolve the Tarmogoyf I had in my hand the next turn, but that wasn't enough to win in time.
I think Trap is generally much better than that, but it may be too situational to justify. This is especially true if people start expecting it (although you can hardly play around the card if you have Counterbalance out).

The one time Trap saw play against me (Tempo thresh vs Alix's Zoo) it wasn't very relevant, as I had the Submerge + Spell Snare and he revealed Jotun Grunt.
I think it could be nuts in a deck that has a lot at 3-4cc in the creature department (some weird midrange agro list, or Goblins), but it seems underwhelming in a deck with a lower curve (although he did board into more goodness against me than 4 goyf and 2-3 Thoctor). It seems a little too situational.

Trap might be worth it once the right SB can be made, but I'll mention that not having some of the cards I cut for Trap probably lost me a few games. Going 3-0 then losing to back to back landstill with 27 removal effects each, but few real counters. I'm positive that PoP might have made the difference. Finishing 6-2 was fine, but I really wish I had those cards.

I think it would be sick to Sb in like 4 eternal witnesses just to keep looking at your top 7 until there is a progenitus in there. New Natural Oder?

Anyone tried it in Goblins so far ? I'm no expert on the deck, but I can imagine early Lackeys, Instigators and Warchiefs getting countered regularly, and Trap has a good chance of giving you something spicy, like Warchief, Ringleader, or Siege-Gang. Basically, it would be yet ANOTHER card which allows you to cheat expensive creatures into play in addition to Vial and the Lackey effects.

''I think it would be sick to Sb in like 4 eternal witnesses just to keep looking at your top 7 until there is a progenitus in there. New Natural Oder?''
If you wanted to do this you could also throw in scrivener and izzet chronarch as well, and then you would have 16 cards to be able to hit to either throw down progenitus or spin the wheel again.

This list would be awesome with Witness instead of River Boa. It looks also too much anti-blue oriented (3*Selkie, 4*River Boas, 4*Choke, 4*Summoning trap).

It looks like it was a metagame call. I wonder what the rest of the field looked like.

Decent amounts of Bant variations (most with CB-Top and with Progenitals), Landstill, Canadian Threshold, Supreme Blue, Merfolk and Goblins with a sprinkle of UBr-Faeries, ANT and Belcher.
The deck's creators told me Boa and Selkie were indeed metagame calls.
