For the last couple of days i've been thinking about this deck and I came up with this list:

//Lands

9 Island(s)
5 Forest(s)
4 Tropical Island(s)/ Yavimaya Coast(s)

//Spells

2 Epic Struggle
4 Nantuko Shrine
4 Opt
4 Brainstorm
4 Accumulated Knowledge
4 Mana Leak
4 Sungrass Egg
4 Mossfire Egg
4 Chromatic Sphere
4 Moment's Peace
4 Howling Mine

What i want to do?

I want to get at least a Nantuko Shrine on the field and then just keep playing spells as long as mana and cards in my hand let me.
This way, if i can play enough spells, i can get 20+ Squirrels on the board and then win the game at my unkeep.

Why those cards?

I will now explain some of my not-obvious choices.

Howling Mine: 4 are maybe too much, but i feel like i need a real draw engine in this deck so here it is.

Chromatic Sphere: with 1cc casting + 1cc activation give me one mana of ANY color and a draw. Great sinergy with the eggs.

The eggs: Mana and drawing are good to me. They are a little slow at 2cc, so i thought about Spellbombs, but they don't provide mana

Moment's Peace: While i'm looking for the shrines i need protection. Flashbackable.

Mana Leak: I felt like these could be more mana-suited for my deck because of the incolor. Counterspell would have meant using two Us. Not always possible in my case.

Why I need your help?

I did some testing ( MWS ) and i noticed that the deck is sometimes slow and is not so protected while i dig for the shrines and the Epic Struggle.
Not to mention the fact that even if I manage to get the 20+ creatures i need, the opponent has a lot of ways to wipe away all my Squirrels ( with all my efforts to get 'em there )

Possible Solutions:

I thought about changing the control color from U to W, but i'm not so convinced.

I'd like to hear the opinion of guys more experienced than me, i'm sure that, having a different point of view, you could improve what i've done and help me understand where i was wrong.

P.s: I REALLY REALLY REALLY wouldn't like to play the 'Goyf. Keep that in mind.

I hope the Thread isn't illegal or something and that, even with my poor english, i made myself clear to all of you.

Howdy.

Your deck literally does nothing except help your opponent when you don't have a Nantuka Shrine, and Nantuko Shrine is easy to remove, easy to counter, is slow as hell, and is a graveyard-dependent win condition.

Qasali Pridemage is almost ubiquitous, and every deck runs Thoughtseize/Duress or Force or Kgrip at least board. Those keep you from using Nantuko Shrine, not to mention your fastest win is like turn 6 or 7, and even the slowest control deck could goldfish you by then.

Also, your deck scoops to Goblin Sharpshooter and Engineered Plague. Your clock is too slow to beat any aggro deck, and all the splash hate that goes after Ichorid or Reanimator shuts you down. Aggro and combo will ALWAYS goldfish you, and literally any answer than control has will completely shut your deck down. On top of that, you're very vulnerable to every hate spell played in the format.

I can't name a single deck, tier 1, tier 2, or even anything that might see play that would consider your deck anything other than a bye + horrible tiebreakers.

Legacy is a serious format. Get serious with your deck design. Perhaps you meant to post in the Cavius Casual forum.

if you want to play a token deck then play a token deck.squirle/elf opposistion comes to mind.it has a decent clock. But yeah legacy is a format where your deck that you posted would be a horriable idea.

Howling Mine is pretty bad. Why not run Anvil of Bogardan over it to maximize the Nantuko Shrine effects?

Cards that you need for it to be even semi competitive:

Force of Will
creature control: Drop of Honey might be good, Propaganda, Elephant Grass, etc.

Brainstorm - Replace Opt with this card.

Careful Study might be good.

Tarmogoyf - You're playing green, man.

Fetches - Zendikar Misty Rainforests.

That's just all of the suggestions I can think of at this moment. I like the idea of abusing Nantuko Shrine. Good luck with it, it seems interesting. I'll post more on the idea when I've brainstormed a bit more.

You could try using Locket of Yesteryears to try and lower your mana usage. Ive been successful with that and Sprout swarm. Also, using Death Match is really fun in group games. Ive stocked up on my draw spells, like opportunity, deep analysis, tidings, compulsive research, whispers. Seedborn Muse is a key for you in this deck and a lot of instants. Is there another win condition you want to use besides Epic Struggle? My win condition for this is In the Web of war and Day of dragons. Good luck

Couldn't you use quiet speculation and do a flashback themed deck? You could use the flashback fog and some token generators (call of the herd maybe?) to keep yourself alive until you can get the shrines on board. Also, wouldn't sterling grove be a decent addition? It would let you search up the shrines as well as protecting them if you already have a shrine.

Play dredge.

Depends on what you're looking for. If he wants to have a competitive legacy deck, dredge would be a much better option. If he wants a fun creative deck that is less that probably won't win any legacy tournaments, he is doing the right thing. It ain't all about winning after all.
