It should start any time now. Link: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Events.aspx?x=mtgevent/webcast/home

It was fun to have a chat thread during the last Worlds - or was it two years ago? - so let's give it another run. Not sure how many people are already (or still!) up, much less the Yanks, but there's plenty of time to show up.

As you may know, the team competition is a multi-format Top 4 and includes Legacy. Here (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15600) are the lists.

2 ANT is interesting, and that Merfolk list is how many months out of date?

I found it odd that the 2 storm combo lists were running only 3 tops. That and world queller in stax.
Im hoping the webcast will have the video on legacy alot like with dreadstill vs team america last year.

EDIT: although most people here are going 12 lords, thrasher is still a huge threat against control decks like landstill.

Status:

Reitbauer (Austria) beats Pils (Germany) in the Jund kind-of mirror.

Coimbra (Portugal)'s Naya land-screws Lybaert (Belgium)'s Jund out of the match.

Meanwhile, Bucher (Switz)'s Bant needs to beat Soh (Malaysia)'s Naya twice in a row. The same for Cavaglieri (Ita)'s Mono-White Midrange up agaisnt Snepvangers (Netheralnds)'s Boros/Landfall aggro.

Opinion: Standard is not quite as horrible as it was before Zendikar, but it's still a pretty bad format. The Boros vs. MWM matchup is the only one that doesn't boil down to just hitting your colours and making as big guys as possible.

Standard looks extremly boring. Either you get rushed by a Lynx or play the biggest creature and hope your opponent doesn't have enough removal.

Yeah, I was hoping either the Esper combo decks or the classic Ultimatum lists would expand the format a bit more, but they didn't. Closest thing out there are the Andersons' Eldrazi Elves and Cavaglieri's Mono-White, both of which have only a little more tricks than your regular Bloodbraid-based snorefest.

In more interesting news, the Team rounds are about to start, and that means Legacy. I hope it's going to be anywhere close to as cool as last year's - remember that nerve-wracking Team America vs. Dreadstill long game?

EDIT: Oops, nevermind. Semi-finals still to go before the Team rounds.
