View Full Version : Stampeding Wildebeests and Echo costs
Say I have Stampeding Wildebeests in play and play a Deranged Hermit - on my next turn, in my upkeep, is it possible to return the Hermit to my hand before I have to pay the upkeep cost?
My own guess would be "yes" but I just want to make sure. =)
Thanks.

Yes. You control both creatures and stack their triggers as you prefer.

Echo says: "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost."
Stampeding Wildebeests says: "At the beginning of your upkeep, return a green creature you control to its owner's hand."
They both trigger at the beginning of your upkeep. Since you are controller of the effect, you get to chose how to stack them. If you place the Echo first on the stack, and then the bounce; the bounce will resolve before the Echo trigger resolves.
So yes, you can

For that reason I loved to use Stampeding Wildebeests with Multani Acolyte.
Wow! A thread about my favorite creature. And I am in it! Wow!
Thanks a lot for the fast responses. :)
