3.) Wish list are not mandatory to follow if they was I would have asked for Foil Japanese Goyfs LOL JK As long as the cards are legacy playable and worth at least $10 via MOTL pricing (EBAY averages) and do not be a dick and send 10 $1 cards send something you would like to open for the holidays

4.) No one is receiving from the same person they are shipping to I made it completely random and actually screwed my self up and had to fix it LOL. A few of you have people from a country or continent different then you I am sorry if this cause you a problem let me know.

5.) Proper shipping rules
a.)Sleeve is a must here.
b.)If it is a card worth a few bucks or more Toploader please with the sleeve upside down in it and taped closed.
c.) last year I shipped inside a toploader in a christmas card and had it put do not fold on the package. I have a shit ton of bubble mailers to get rid of so if you get a card from me it will be professionally packaged.
d.)US people if it is difficult to get to the post office to buy postage talk to your mail delivery person most of them sell stamps from the vehicle a lot of times I just tape a buck or 2 to the envelope and they stamp it for me (but I live in a town of 4000 people) ask for a postage envelope from a postal worker they are either orange or red colored with postage marked on the outside and you stick the money in them for stamps.

yea well I spent almost 50k on free rent for people this holiday season I could at least spend a couple of hundred on something I love.

Most people wouldn't send that much I understand but The Source helped me get back into Legacy after all my decks were stolen right before the holidays last year. People sent me all kinds of cards for free just paying it forward.

I don't remember finding MTG around there after doing a block-by-block hunt 2 years ago, including the action figure building, but the store I went to was one at Plaza Hollywood at Diamond Hill. Roughly $64 US for Chinese boosters of the newest set or $56 US for anything older. Yes, I checked if they're real. Not there when my 'rents swung by a month ago. Hard to find MTG in Hong Kong =)

If you're actually looking for a place, I drafted every week while I was there. It's a hard to find store just out of the door of the Yau Ma Tei station, 11 floors up. They kept a small stock of Standard cards there, and some other older cards to look through (though I most likely pulled all of the good ones out already :tongue: ). I don't think I ever found one at Diamond Hill, although I know of one that I need to keep secret in Sheung Wan so that I can keep getting all my chinese cards in stock. It doesn't hold events but has an online ordering database for a fair price. Mong Kok did have a store but it was on the third floor in a gaming/action figure market area thing. No idea how to tell you directions to get there, so lets forget about it existing for now.

I'm so upset I never found a MTG store at Diamond Hill, I went to an Extended PTQ held at a warehouse two blocks away from Plaza Hollywood, but never heard of that.

I caught word of another place that held events up near Lai King I believe, but my friend searched for it for a week and gave up on it.

Obviously if me or anyone I knew could have spoken Cantonese while I was there it would have been much easier :rolleyes:

why is it that we apparently have all this really cool shit, are for some reason not allowed to sell or even trade here ? would it not be possible to set up a new forum area where users started a fresh thread with a pic a card and everyone respoded via PM what they would pay or trade for it ? and if something went wrong it was at thier own risk. no mods had to deal with it, but was just a risk both parties were willing to take. and if it was only a US transaction, delivery confirmation as ALWAYS included.

or even a thread where you could post a have and wants list ? yes, I know there is some mtg traders league or some shit. but I wouldnt trust the people there was much as I do here. because I assume the people thre are just there to trade and not make forum posts. if some here wanted to trade for a high dollar card I had, and they had made little to no posts here or just crap ones. I wouldnt do the trade. common sense right. and if I did, it would be at my own risk. maybe sign some electroonic waiver gving up my rights to a claim to excuse, the mods/admins/owners from any liabilities relating to lost or stolen cards.

Because the mods do not want to deal with complaints of rippers and stuff..and because this is THE SOURCE there are lot of trading sites and if we all wanted to pick one to use (IE Essential Magic) we could post the link to it in our sigs and everyone would know who traded or not and go there an do the trade on there site. If there was enough interest I would be willing to set up a whole separate forum not related to the source that only source members could trade on. People would have to pm me on here first to get membership approved and would have to use the same screen name.

I pitched this idea once before (and I'm sure I wasn't the first), mods made it quite clear that this would never be a reality. For what it's worth I have been stiffed by sourcers on online trades (and have had some good experiences with others). I wouldn't hold my breath for a trade thread, but I'd imagine you could put something small in your sig if you were looking to trade a card or two in particular.

Because the mods do not want to deal with complaints of rippers and stuff..and because this is THE SOURCE there are lot of trading sites and if we all wanted to pick one to use (IE Essential Magic) we could post the link to it in our sigs and everyone would know who traded or not and go there an do the trade on there site. If there was enough interest I would be willing to set up a whole separate forum not related to the source that only source members could trade on. People would have to pm me on here first to get membership approved and would have to use the same screen name.

That would be ideal on sooo many levels... I was just thinking that, it would be alot easier for a whole lot of us to get our 'pet projects' together if we could easily buy/sell within the source

I don't know much about EssentialMagic, but I've been looking at MOTL lately, and they have pretty strict policies and a reference/referral system (so you can see who is a trusted trader and who's new). I'm not sure whether it's reassuring or disconcerting that they have a rather long list of banned members. Tha Gunslinga is trustworthy for sure... cuz he's the Gunslinga. Not sure about the rest.

I refuse to go to MOTL. I got banned from there by a reverse ripper. I sent with tracking. the post office never scanned it as delivered even though he PMed me about recieving. My problem was I had tracking and proved I sent, he even admitted that he received before retracting it. I got banned for ripping even though it was obvious I had sent and had proof. I agree. Being involved is what counts. Hopefully everyone is back next year and nobody feels like they got less than they gave. I wasn't able to fulfill specific requests per se but I tried to put in some surprise stuff that would be fun to see and some other stuff that would be useful generally speaking. Obviously every card was not competitive in Legacy but that is one of the things I hate about Magic at a competitive level. All of the sudden, you see 99% of your collection as useless and it takes the fun out of non-competitive Magic. EDH has filled in some of the gaps and limited is pretty fun/challenging, but what to do with all these extra cards?

We started playing random Magic which turns out to be a lot of fun. Really bad cards win games and random non-game changing effects make it interesting. I urge everyone to make a box of 1-offs and randomize some lands. You have to make up a few rules regarding shared graveyards and how to draw from 2 libraries (1 land, 1 mixed cards) but it all seems to work out. I tried loading the box with Slivers and it got crazy so I took most of them out. Right now, the only duplicates I have are Cloudposts (and I have a shitload in there).

Whatever, I'm rambling.

If you gave a lot and got a little, hang in there and hope for next year. If you gave a little and got a lot, plan for giving a little back next year. I hope everyone who participated did so for the giving more than the getting.

Actually a lot of modern churches acknowledge this today. This doesn't detract from the celebration of the birth of Christ. I don't consider myself a Christian but I did major in History. Some Christians are actually starting to research history outside of the bible and surprisingly are finding that plenty of it supports much of what is written in the bible. I'm not going to say ALL but enough that it helps to reinforce their beliefs beyond blind faith.

Christianity was in fact one of the many eastern cult religions of the time. There were many similarities between them with regards to rituals but Christianity stemmed directly from Judaism whereas sun cults generally evolved out of the Greek, Roman and Egyptian pantheon. That's not to say that Christianity did not appropriate many of the icons and rituals practiced by the pagan cults. All the cults were competing for membership and it was not uncommon for an individual of the time to hold membership in several cults in their lifetime. In fact if you do a search for early Christian sarcophagi, you will find that more often than not, the motifs share both Christian iconography as well as a homage to various other cults (Bacchus, Sol Invictus, Isis, etc.)

Anyhow, I'm not saying support for supernatural events. Obviously that is where faith comes in. I'm talking about historical events and real individuals. There is plenty of support for actual individuals from the bible existing. When they talk about miracles like mana from heaven, historians have discovered that this was probably sap from a tree that grows in the desert or may have even been locusts. An open minded Christian would accept scientifically supported evidence over taking the words in the bible too literally.

Today would have been the 10 day deadline so please try to have everything sent by early next week. It's fair to expect that everyone should receive by Christmas even though MF has January 1st as a deadline to report non-receipt. I'm looking forward to doing this next year and hope that everyone who participated this year will be back next and nobody has a bad experience.

Since it's Legacy though maybe we should shoot for something playable like Chrome Mox (could make a pretty good ornament) or Brainstorm (cheap, commonly used) or Goyf proxies (hate to ask anyone to send one out - let alone draw on it). I'll think about some criteria. I want to make sure the idea would be well organized but still fun for everyone.

I tried to please the person I got with what he requested although it maybe not as awesome as some of the stuff I saw in this thread. I have to apoligize for that but I just moved in with my girlfriend and sold almost my entire collection (about 7 years of gathering) to buy all the furniture, pay the rent and stuff.

Still I think I sent out some nice stuff for what the other person requested! :-)

She just drew on it a little I filled it in with the sharpie LOL I had it on my desk to use in a deck and she asked if she could draw on a card and I told her to get a land from my box and she grabbed that one instead.

So I went to get the mail today and apparently Santa sent me another gift :cool: I rip it open and find a foil chinese scalding tarn!!! :smile: Excellent!

Not only did I get some awesome cards, but they were cards I needed too. I've got 8 jap foil zen fetches, but none are scalding tarn and sea drake is a card I have been casually trying to get for a while with no success. I would have even needed a factory as I only owned a 4th edition one until getting some korean ones last week. Thank you Santa :wink:

That's soooo cool that you guys both play. I've been teaching my wife to play for a little while now. She's learned how to pick her favorite color sleves, dice, and even has a pimp Pirates deck box. The other thing she knows is that Jewelery is good, i.e., her White Weenie deck is packing a Mox Pearl. We got it in a very large collection we purchased (about 20,000 cards for $550) and she claimed it as soon as she saw it...what could I say.

I should get her some of those new Crusades for her deck. What are they called? Honor of the Pure or something, right? Gatherer, here I come.

There's a huge snowstorm headed like everywhere in the states. The feckin' Jersey Shore is supposed to get 6 inches. That's like the apocalypse here (actually it happens like once a year but still, this early means it could happen more =D)
