[Charlotte] New Legacy playtesting group

This is all about kickstarting a Legacy community in Charlotte.

We are starting with very casual playtesting. Full proxied decks OK for playtesting just to get everyone a taste of Legacy and get interest up. In a month or so, if there is interest, we will move from proxy playtesting to holding unsactioned limited proxy events. In 2-3 month's time, we will start sanctioning the event (no proxies). This staged approach gives everyone time to find a deck they like and acquire cards.

I stayed for a whole week in Charlotte on September and the only MTG shop that I found was Game DQ on Freedom road (South-West), where they mostly play Standard and Limited. I hope you'll have success creating a legacy scene there, because MTG seems close to death in this city, compares to what you can find here in Montreal.

There are three shops that run FNM and average 25 or so each.

The Legacy group in Charlotte got off to a good start last night. We had 8 people come who were interested in playing Legacy. We rotated decks around so everyone could see some of the common decks in the format and we discussed how to move the group forward. In the next couple of weeks, the group would like to hold a proxy tournament, so we are going to do that.

This. Last time we had 10 ppl, 8 the time before that so attendance is small but everyone has decent legacy decks so thats good.

Next tourney is the 6th, prize support will be something along the lines of 1st - scrubland, 2nd 2 fetches, and packs for 3rd and 4th.

When the Foul Line was around in Lincolnton, we got a Legacy group going for quite a while with a much smaller player base than in the Charlotte area. Played once a month. If you can get the word out, I think you can find enough people in the Charlotte area. I will mention to my friends in the area. Best Wishes.
