Going to be moving to Denver before the end of the month. There are a couple ancient threads on here but I wanted to start a new thread with a clean slate.

From what I can tell, there isn't much Legacy around Denver, but if anyone living in the area knows otherwise please let me know. If there really isn't an established meta, and anyone is interested, I would be willing to meet regularly for casual play. If we have enough people, maybe we can convince a local place to have sanctioned Legacy tournaments. Maybe we can convert a few Vintage or Extended players and get something going.

Remember that there's going to be a SCG Legacy 5K in Denver in August, perhaps that can be a draw for potential players?

I'm in Boulder, which is about 30-45 outside of Denver, for what it is worth. Sadly, I haven't seen any Legacy round here ether.

Denver seems to be more into vintage. There's a place (Black Gold I think is the name) and they run proxy vintage tournies. I played magic for 10 years + and never could find a legacy event in Denver. I had to go to Wichita, Kansas City, or GenCon. There are some in Nebraska, but even as far north in Colorado as Greeley, I never could find anything. Loveland might have an event every once in a blue moon, I never could seem to make it to FNM there but I doubt they do Legacy at all, let alone consistently.

Well there are 3 of us here so far, and if people are playing proxie vintage, they might as well be playing Legacy too. I will have to pay this Black Gold place a visit. Even if we can't get a regular event going, we should try to meet up and get some testing in before the SCG 5k.

I'd be all for it. Sadly, I don't exactly have a Legacy deck together atm. I am, however, working on one. We should really get together and do some testing though. It would be nice to play some Legacy.

I'm down. I almost always run some stupid homebrew pile, but I have one deck that's reasonably competitive, and I have most of what I need for a few standard decks like Lands and Aggro Loam if you don't mind me using a few proxies.

Well we've made the trip safely, and all our belongings should be arriving today. After this week we should be all unpacked and ready to resume normal day-to-day activities. Anyone in Denver/Boulder/etc up for some casual play in the new year?

(also, shameless bump to keep hope alive)

Ok the SCG 5K is fast approaching. I would really like to get some testing/practice in without having to go down to Black Gold and beg Vintage players to switch formats. If anyone is interested in getting together, I'm closest to Valhallas but can meet at Enchanted Grounds or Black Gold or even somewhere in Boulder if necessary.

Bummer to see no responses about Legacy in the the Denver/Boulder area! I'm from Boulder originally but am now in school in New York. I might time a CO visit this summer to coincide with the 5k, though - if I do, I would be way down to test with you, EssKay.

Hopefully the 5k ignites some Legacy interest in the region.

Agreed! I'm in a similar situation as you: my wife is from near Boulder and we occasionally go back to visit her family, and it would be nice to know there is a small Legacy community taking off.

@ EssKay: good luck, hope you find people to test with for the SCG 5k.

From what I know, which isn't much, there's more of a casual meta. PM me once you're in town and settled, and I can tip you off to where places are.

Oh I'm already here, let the tipping begin! Also, hope to see you this Tuesday at Black Gold!

sorry for the necro-bump but did the events at black gold ever get up and running?
