In a recent game i was playing, I was playing Goblins and my opponent ANT.
I had cast a Pyrostatic Pillar early in the game, and my opponent was at 1 life.
It's my turn and I declare an attack for what is going to finish the job with numerous gobbos.
In response to my attack my opponent cast Angel's Grace.
Firstly, i'm no rules expect, but this is what I thought would happen (please tell me where i'm wrong if i am).
* Angel's Grace goes on the stack, and Pyrostatic Pillar goes on top of this.
* Pyrostatic Pillar resolves and deals him 2 damage (putting his life total to -1).
Because a spell with split second is on the stack, neither player gets priority to then respond to Angel's Grace (thus there is no state based check to end the game since his life total is below 1). This is the part I want clarification on.
* Angel's Grace resolves
The game continues because now "He can't lose the game this turn"
* During his next upkeep (assuming he hasn't gained life), he'll lose when he gets priority.
