I built a rough list to abuse of the ascension, tested it a bit, but never managed to refine it a lot.

4 lightning bolt
4 chain lightning
4 bloodchief ascension
4 sarcomancy
4 carnophage
4 confidant
3 grim lavamancer
3 terminate
4 thoughtseize
2 umezawa's jitte
4 sinkhole

4 wasteland
4 bloodstained mire
3 badlands
8 swamp
1 mountain

As you can see the deck is obviously built to drop an early beater and then gain tempo to charge the ascension via sinkhole and waste (and both cards are not dead after ascension is fully charged). You can easily gain the 3 counters by your turn three ( first turn carnophage/sarcomancy, second turn ascension + swing, EOT Bolt, third turn swing/bolt).

The deck is also pretty solid, and is constructed to win even if it doesn't see the ascension. Confidant and Jitte give the deck a good mid game, and you have always the choice to simply play like a sligh (fast creatures + burn).
However the deck suffers countertop lock, especially if you get your first threat countered.

Adrian Sullivan made an ext deck with sort of the same gameplan:

I´ve also seen that deck and it works pretty well so why not mine could do it too?

I´m going to try it and see how good can it do the job?

Any more ideas?

Bloodchief Ascension without Smallpox just looks so wrong...

you deck is terribly susceptible to counterbalance, (at 2) without the speed of combo or burn, and without the consistancy of zoo. You need to find what your deck does better than the afore-mentioned decks if you intend to legitimize this deck. Zoo packs 4 MB quasali pridemage to deal with CB, ANT usually packs 1 grip/wipe away main. You have no ways to combat CB, and a slower clock than burn.

Also, I understand that with grove and/or invigorate, Needlebite Trap is 5 'damage' for one black mana, but really? Really? That card is terrible in limited, even against allys packing multiple ondu clerics, as while it looks to take 1/4 of your opponent's life total, your oppoennt is *GAINING LIFE*, making the prospect of attacking that resource a losing battle. IMO, hideous end would be a better slot, as it nukes their guys, while attacking their life total and preserving yours. It may whiff against the odd tombstalker or bob, but you do pack MD terminates for those guys. CMC3 helps dodge CB to ensure you kill those pesky goyfs. Also hot with an active ascension.

I don't think the life-gain synergies are worth it. Grove of the Burnwillows, Punishing Fire, Kavu Predator, and Needlebite Trap are all terrible cards.

Bloodchief Ascension is a terrible card in its own right. Too slow for combo, and too win-more for anything else.

So you think this deck has not any kind of improvement?
I think it has lot of sinergy in itself but perhaps is slow. In extended something similar makes top3 (Adrian Sullivan made an ext deck with sort of the same gameplan: http://www.deckcheck.net/deck.php?id=31335) but i don´t know if legacy could be a good environment for the deck. Having recurring burn, monsters that grows a lot and damage/ lifegaining sounds interesting to me but again i don´t know if the deck could have any improvement to be played on legacy.

What do you think?

-4 Ascension
+4 Dark Confidant

-4 Burst Lighting
+4 Tarmo

-4 Blighting
+4 Thougtseize

-1 Needlebite
-1 Invigorate
+2 Jitte

-1 Wooded Foothils
-1 Bloodstained mire
-1 Taiga
+2 Bayou
+1 Badlands

Now you are Tarmoburn splashing black and with recursion, it should be more stable but slower

Since you're basically dropping ascension turn1 and going all out burn.. maybe Ghitu Fireslinger instead of Kavu Predator, it could be a good blocker while doing the trick. Taking it back to old school :P

Earthquake would also do the trick pretty well... any board sweeper's pretty dope with ascension, but earthquake'd be more versatile I guess. Jokulhaups would be hilarious, but too expensive >.<

Adrian Sullivan's gameplan was widely helped by the fact that Extended only has Shocklands and not Duals available in the mana base. Just sayin'.
