Jötun Grunt
Creature - Giant Soldier 4/4, 1W
Cumulative upkeep-Put two cards in a single graveyard on the bottom of their owner's library. (At the beginning of your upkeep, put an age counter on this permanent, then sacrifice it unless you pay its upkeep cost for each age counter on it.)

Hi,
I have some Questions regarding Jötun Grunt, that came up today.

1) If Jötun Grunts Ability triggers, what Targets do I announce? Do I target the Cards in the Graveyard or only the Graveyard for each Age Counter and the Targets are choosen on resolution?

2) What happens, if the Cards in the Graveyard get removed? As an example: I get the First Age-Counter and choose to take Cards from my Graveyard. What if my opponent removes my Graveyard with Crypt or something alike?

3) In regards to the Questions above: What if I have 2 Grunts in Play. Can I choose identical Cards for both?

1) There is no such thing as "target on resolution". Jotun Grunt's ability doesn't have 'target' anywhere in it, so nothing is targeted. You choose (not target) the cards when the ability resolves.

2) No such thing can happen, since the cards are chosen on resolution. Either Crypt is used before you choose, or Crypt is used after the ability has resolved and the cards are already gone.

3) No, since the cards are chosen on resolution.

1. Jotun Grunt's triggered ability has no targets.

2. By the time you choose which cards you're going to put on the bottom of a library, the triggered ability is resolving, and no spells or abilities may be cast or activated. If your opponent has no cards (or one card) in their gy, and they remove all the cards in your graveyard in response to the triggered ability, you're shit outta luck unless you can put more cards into your graveyard, and you have to sacrifice the Grunt.

3. No. Each Grunt has a seperate triggered ability and each trigger resolves independently of one another and not simultaineously.
