1. Can Chalice of the Void counter spells off of Isochron Scepter?

2. Are spells off of Isochron Scepter affected by Trinisphere?

I think I know the answers to these, but I want to make sure before I continue with my deck building escapades.

Yes and yes.

You may copy the exiled card. If you do, you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost.

1: The spells are cast, so Chalice triggers.
2: You don't pay mana for your spells, so Trinisphere tells you "Pay 3".

Since the topic title is pretty generic, I have a question about Isochron Scepter too!

If I cast an Isochron Scepter and have the split card Research/Development in my hand, can I imprint it since Research costs 2? If so, when I activate Isochron Scepter, can I choose to play Development instead even though it costs 5 (since it's already imprinted)?

For reference:

Research
Instant, GU
Choose up to four cards you own from outside the game and shuffle them into your library.
//
Development
Instant, 3UR
Put a red 3/1 Elemental creature token into play unless an opponent lets you draw a card. Repeat this process two more times.

I think I know the answer based off the wording of Isochron Scepter, but I want to check with the field before I go to the tournament with this.

Isochron Scepter {2}
Artifact
Imprint -- When Isochron Scepter enters the battlefield, you may exile an instant card with converted mana cost 2 or less from your hand.
2, T: You may copy the exiled card. If you do, you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost.

Yes, you can imprint Reseach/Development - when doing comparisons with split cards, if either half matches, the entire card matches.

Yes, you can play either half - Isochron doesn't care about the CMC after something is imprinted.
