Darksteel brute + Energy Chamber

Hello,

If I have a Darksteel Brute and an Energy Chamber in play, can I put +1/+1 counters on the Darksteel Brute although it is not an artifact creature yet?
And if I transform it into a creature by activating its ability, will the +1/+1 counters be added to its power/toughness?

Energy Chamber {2} |Artifact| At the beginning of your upkeep, choose one -- Put a +1/+1 counter on target artifact creature; or put a charge counter on target noncreature artifact.

You cannot put +1/+1 counters on Darksteel Brute. At the beginning of your upkeep, before a player would get priority, when the trigger goes on the stack, you have to choose modes and targets. At that time, Darksteel Brute is not a creature. You can only put charge counters on it.

If you got +1/+1 counters on Darksteel Brute through some other means, they would stay on, and pump it when it becomes a creature.

So, to get +1/+1 counters on Darksteel Brute, for example I could transform it into creature, and then cast a Dismantle (Sorcery, 2R (3) Destroy target artifact. If that artifact had counters on it, put that many +1/+1 counters or charge counters on an artifact you control.) on it, so I can turn the charge counters into +1/+1 conters (as long as Darksteel brute is already a creature),

12/1/2004: Dismantle targets only the artifact that will be destroyed. When Dismantle resolves, you choose which type of counters you want and choose an artifact you control to put them on.

1.) You don't need to turn the Darksteel Brute into an artifact creature to put +1/+1 counters on it via Dismantle. (see the quote)
2.) You don't turn the charge counter into +1/+1 counters but you add them. For example if you had 3 charge counters on the DB and you dismantle it, you could put 3 +1/+1 counters on it. Added up you would have 6 counters on it - 3 charge and 3 +1/+1 counters.
