You all buy singles from sets with lots of playable cards. Perfect example is buying singles from Tempest. Why? Crack those tempest packs open.
There are so many sealed packs floating around and they sit unopened with scalpers.
You have a sealed booster pack.
It's worthless.
What the hell is in it? It's not special. If it's worth so much to you then open it otherwise why are people buying them and not opening them? Take a hit and crack it cease the insanity.
the card prices are the way they are because every release I go to some jackass leaves with 3 cases. Do they open each case? No. They're idiots. It's people like this that hurt the game because there are less cards circulating then there could be.
How could you complain about prices when you can open old packs of The Dark, italian Legends, pretty much for dirt? 15 cards for less than $35 is that so wrong?

Here's a zinger directed at WOTC.
Why do you have a reprint policy list when so many people are scalping SEALED booster packs? Shove the list in the toilet it is worthless it does nothing for the game whatsoever. The cards arent rare at all people are just moronic. Reprint all these sets and stick it to the scalpers.

Except that you could buy six packs of M10 for 20$ with ~2x the chance of getting a Baneslayer than you do to pull a Mana Drain. You also have those other rares which can sell for small change too. Then, you sell those two Baneslayers that you pulled from the same effort to get that one mana drain, and also sell the small stuff, and then go buy a mana drain, and have more profit than you do compared to paying for the legends.

I assume that you're trolling to some degree, but opening packs has always been a statistically horrible means of getting specific cards you want from a set.
This is even more so the case with OOP sets because the cost of the packs is higher and the would be mid-range type 2 playable/sell-able rares are no longer type 2, and are often worthless. In the case of a set like Tempest you mentioned, you can pick up packs ~$9 each on ebay; if you crack Wasteland, Scroll Rack, Grindstone, or Intuition you make some money, if you don't you lose money.

If you feel that way, you buy those packs, you crack them, you see your money go up in smoke.

This.
There are two reasons why cracking OOP boosters are unprofitable:
1) Most of the cards are not Legacy playable, and pretty much none of them are Standard legal. This serves to drive down the cost of individual cards.
2) These boosters were available many years ago. Everytime a booster is cracked, more individual cards enter the circulation, whereas fewer sealed boosters are available for collectors (who probably value a sealed booster more than the expected value of the individual cards). Thus cracking boosters only increases the supply of the cards (driving those prices down) while diminishing the supply of sealed boosters (driving those prices up).

What's wrong with that?

The issue I take with Legacy is this,
The cards are getting expensive but the sealed product is everywhere. This doesn't add up for me.
I don't disagree with any of you if you are only caring to maximize your return well then I suggest you become a businessman or a dealer of magic and not a player because this is where it seems the fun is for you.
Everyone always forgets that when Legends, The Dark, Antiquities, and these early sets first released they never actually sold for the MSRP.
Then WOTC made a reprint policy list to appease what were basically people scalping the cards and keeping them out of the hands of the players for a reasonable price.
So i implore people caring about the rising costs to open more sealed product to drive the costs back down.
