Ugr Faerie Thresh

Yo, what's up. So, I figured this seems different enough from the Ubr versions of Faeries I've seen proposed to deserve its own thread. I can move it over to that page if y'all don't agree with me. Without further ado:

Sideboard:

-Really not sure yet, cards to consider would be Firespout, Engineered Explosives, BEB and/or REB, Tormod's Crypt, Krosan Grip, Trygon Predator, maybe more Jitte (or Sword of Light and Shadow-- I think this would be better than SoFI in this deck), who knows... I'm too tired to really think about a good sideboard plan for this deck, or even what it would need as a sideboard.

So, I'll admit that I haven't had a chance to test the idea yet at all. Before you flame me, notice that I admit that. :tongue:

If nothing else, it seems like it would be really fun to play. You get to play fourteen creatures, instead of the eight that most Tempo Thr*sh lists use. And you don't really sacrifice the ability to play about 4/5 of your spells as an instant.

Scryb Ranger probably needs testing, but he seems like a cool idea. Pro-blue is actually pretty relevant, as it will be good against Merfolk, and other things. And the ability to ramp mana with him is pretty cool. Not to mention that he makes your Forests immune to opposing Wastelands (actually, I think this interaction might be enough to make me want to go -1 Volcanic Island, +1 Taiga on the mana base, but I'm not sure.)

I don't know if 20 lands is too much. It seems like the curve is a bit high to make it safe to only run 18 lands though. Anyways... I'd love to hear some feedback on it. And I hope this thread doesn't degenerate into a big squabble or some sort of pissing contest. But if it does, I guess I can say I called it.

It's "gay" as a joke, because it uses lots of Faerie creatures. And also because folks on TheSource tend to love gay jokes for some reason, and I wanted to have people reply to it quicker. :wink:

Also, I'm not sure because I haven't seen the list you're referring to, but I don't think most Faeries lists with Goyf have Scryb Ranger and a bunch of Thresh cards... Although I might be wrong. If this doesn't need its own thread, I can ask someone to merge it or something. Or whatever it is you're supposed to do when that happens.

While you're trying to just get more interest and appeal to the sensibility of Sourcers, you are indirectly perpetuating bigotry by applying negative connotations to the word 'Gay'.

Check it out, and that is without the search funcation actually working properly (as it hasn't seemed to since the switch to the new forums). From memory there are other lists up there which might spark ideas.
I think you will get better info in the Faeries thread at any rate. Discussion of your list might spark a discussion (I.E. Merits of Ranger) and while it may appear inactive, it goes through spurts of activity. Just have to be patient I guess.

Not my intention to offend anyone. Just trying to get the attention of the Team Unicorn talent scouts and all that. Sorry, it was meant in good fun, but I can see how people might feel put down by it.

Anyhow, thanks for the link (although I can't get it to work.) I'll check out the Faeries thread and see if I can find some Ugr lists to compare it to.

Use of the word in a negative way is never a good thing, that's all. It ends up being like the N-word.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out how to do that. Didn't mean to offend anyone, I guess it's just because I come from the South, I'm kind of inundated with that humor being used by nearly everyone...

I don't know if either of the untapping Faeries are worth it. The effect of untapping a creature or a land just doesn't seem that great with what you have on offer. In addition, the UBr version runs the faeries with the highest power for the converted mana cost: Vendilion and Blossom. They are not 1/1s that fly, but rather an endless stream on 1/1s that fly which ends up adding alot more creatures to the deck (and makes Jitte great) and the punch of a Threshed mongoose in Clique.
Also, running the sole ground ponder cuts you off from the Firespout deck. OK, not totally, but you run the risk of also killing your own Goyf with it if you choose to run it.
I think running Clique or even the new Worldwake Blue land enchantment would be better than some of the Faeries you have here.

Fire//Ice has been losing power for a while. UBr Faeries doesn't need it so much because they don't have a need to tap down a defender, but running Goyf forces your hand somewhat.
Indeed it sometimes doesn't run burn at all. I would try dropping another F//I and adding the third Jitte.
