I plan on selling a NM Moat on Ebay (bid!). If i set a starting bid, does that turn off bidders; is a starting bid of 50 USD turn poeple away from bidding?

This card is so trendy that it should not make a difference.
As per my modest ebay experience, the only difference will be due to your profile and reputation ( number and quality of feedbacks, did you get your feedback as a seller or buyer etc...)

I sell quite a bit there and I found it actually does turn off bidders to set a high starting price, though on a Moat, $50 really isn't that high. Personally, I think I would just start it at 99 cents just to save myself the fees. A moat is going to go for what you want no matter what unless you're expecting a huge amount.
The above poster does mention a good point though. If you have a feedback rating of 1 to 10, you won't get as much as someone with a hundred or so.
Do yourself a favor and make sure you get a decent picture of it though. Pictures make a huge difference in older cards.
Start it low. Starting it low gets more people bidding on it and causes more bidding wars. That only makes the price increase.
There's few reasons to have a high starting price. Usually it's a hedge when the seller is afraid not enough people are interested in the card, though a high start price can be a legitimately good way to push people to do BIN, if you really want it to be BINed.
With Moat, interest should not be a problem. I would start it at $0.01.

just make it a buyitnow , why wait , set it for the price you want , and then it sells.

Here's a good trick to try if you're not sure on what to put as the price. Just type in the card you plan to sell and see how many other people are selling the same thing. Unless you happen to have the only one, you should find plenty.
Now, once you see a few, save around 10 or so to your wish list and see what they end up going for. If there's only one bid on something and it barely sold at all, you might want to set the start bid higher. If it had a ton of bids (be sure to check to make sure it wasn't just 2 people in a bid war) and it went for a price you want, you're safe in starting low.
Easy way to know how it will sell for you. Just take feedback into account a little bit, though it's not a huge concern unless you're sitting at less than 20 or so.

Ok, thanks guys. I'm using a friends account and he has about 100+ feedback so that won't be a problem.
