This is meant to be some kind of experience. SCG at least managed to post the Top 16 of their most recent tournament yesterday, but as I already mentioned in the coverage thread I fear that the top 16 or 32 of GP Madrid is lost if we don't do something about it ourselves. I am not talking decklists here, just information about the decks placing the best in this enormous tournament. Decklists would be great of course.
There were so many Sourcers at the tournament and also quite a lot of people lending cards to players. Players communicate, so in my opinion there is a good chance that there are enough members who know a guy who knows a player ... yout get it. So let's try it!

Yeah, for all the glory Madrid has brought to Legacy, it's still the red-headed stepchild in Wizards' eyes. Just look how pretty much one day after Madrid and the Daily MTG page at Wizards has PT San Diego being the big story and you can't even see GP Madrid until you scroll down. Legacy seems to have had literally 15 minutes of fame at Wizards.
As the biggest event in history, it would have been nice if they would have given the event some post-game attention to. It's like Legacy is a weekend lover or something. Sorry, it was nice, had a great weekend playing with you, but gotta get back to the wife (Standard) and kids (Extended).

Another Dane, Kristian Heibing, finished 35th, also playing MonoU Merfolk.

You realise Mothership articles are given several days to be written, right? The Pro Tour feature article was planned for today long before the registration queue even opened in Madrid. Wait until the next Flores and/or BDM columns.

17 Nikitin, Dmitry [RUS]
Rgw Loam deck he developed - Oblivion Rings, Top, Loam, Seismic Assault, Q.Pridemage, Knight of the Reliquary, Tarmogoyf, StP are the cards I saw when I played the last round against him. Damn, had I won, I would've been probably 14th-15th. Ended up 45th with Bant Countertop featuring Jace the Mind Sculptor and Elspeth.

I just posted it in my blog (http://sololegacy.blogspot.com/2010/03/reuniendo-el-top-32-del-gp-de-madrid.html), just to see if I can help.

16 Noguez Aignasse, Jason [ESP] - Mono U Merfolk / Fearies hybrid Confirmed any another user
18 Adebo Diaz, Juan Carlo [ESP] - RG Belcher Confirmed any another user
Vague references:
31 Truchado, Rafael [ESP] - Countertop, I'll try to get more info about the version, probably Ug.
Someone says an english guy who ended in Top 32 was playing Lands.dec. Maybe 29 Light, Matt [ENG]?

I played against Dmitry in one of the San Diego side events - he also had Lightning Bolts in the deck. No Chalice or Crusher that I saw though.
20 Knoerr, Sebastian [DEU]: I played against him in San Diego as well. He was playing Mono Blue Merfolk when we played and was talking about playing it in Madrid (we spoke about the deck for quite awhile).

Matt light (29) played intuition lands, I played against him in round 10. ( I won, so he made some nice results after that loss)

Pablo Diaz was playing mono-red burn. You can find his feature match vs. Paulo Vitor on Round 13.
After reading the Feature Match, I think that he played mono-red Sligh. Ball of Lightning and Grim Lavamancer would come in, but Figure of Destiny and Goblin Guide aren't Burn cards.

20 Knoerr, Sebastian [DEU]: I posted this on the first page, but I guess it got missed. I'm pretty certain he played Mono U Merfolk because I played against him in San Diego and that's what he was playing and said he was going to take to Madrid. Will need further confirmation on if he actually played it.

Oh, sure, the list can look weird, but he's a capable player ;)
I was actually planning to play such a build as well, but with Predicts instead of Mental Note and with maindeck Needle. It can work out well, since every relevant cardadvantage is currently based on Sensei's Divining Top, Aether Vial and/or Survival of the Fittest. Also works well against Planeswalkers.
But for sure such an old-schoolish build requires a lot of timing, if he managed to get that correctly I#m not wondered that he got so far, even with that list.
