Ok, so siege-gang commander states that when it enters the battefield, you put three tokens into play. So you cast him, he resolves, and then is there a trigger of his ability that can be responded to when hes already in play? So like could someone lightning bolt him before the tokens enter play? I realize they would still come into play but I'm just curious if this is possible.

Secondly, and kind of similarly, Iona states that as it enters the battefield, choose a color etc, does this function in the same way as the token trigger from siege-gang, or does the wording of "as it enters" and "when it enters" change it? So could i respond to iona naming black with a diabolic edit to kill it?

Any other explanations would be great. thanks

"When" is a triggered ability and you can respond to it, like killing the Commander before his tokens are created.

"As" is a static ability, a replacement effect; it modifies how Iona enters the battlefield (enters naming a color). You can't respond to it, so it's too late for Diabolic Edict if she names black.
