It's spent a long time hidden in decks throughout magic's history, and nestled in trade binders. Always a trophy to someone, but hardly played. The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale has always been known to the better players as being one of the most powerful lands in Magic's arsenal, but it wasn't until recently that more and more people found that they could harness the card's potential and put it to use.

It's been a long time coming, but it's time!

Join us at Get Your Game On for our March Power Tournament!
First Place: The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale! (NM - $300)
Second Place: Underground Sea (MINT - $90)
Third & Fourth Place: 1x Mox Diamond each (NM - $45)
Fifth - Eighth Place: 1x Chain Lightning each (MINT - $20)

Legacy Players! Grab your decks and suit up! $20 gets you into the brawl! Come down and Ride all day, battle your way to first and take home one of Magic's most powerful lands! Foils and door prizes all day, weather pending, some grillin and BBQ'n out back!

I'm not organizing this tournament; I'm just posting this info here on behalf of the TO.

Feel free to ask any questions though!

I know it's not the most exciting prize pool in the world, but GYGO tournies are always great, and there will be a pretty good turnout for this. I know there'll be several people coming from Ohio already.

Yup, I will grab some of the Columbus guys and we'll definitely make the road trip -- thanks for the heads up at the 5K this weekend!

Hopefully there will be grilling out, last time we went up it rained

In theory the doors open at 11, but it depends on who's supposed to open that day. Friendly reminder that this is THIS Saturday.

This is tomorrow!

I won't be there, but the turnout is sure to be awesome!

Good luck and have fun!

That's a lot of exclamation points!

Hooray for 9th place by .02%!

Edit: I actually played like shit so I didn't deserve to Top 8.

I was the Intuition Loam player, I'll post my list later if people want it.

The storm deck in the Top 8 was NLS, not ANT, If I recall.

He wasn't playing Divining Top, and I didn't even see a mainboard IGG when he was flipping for Ad Nauseam. Not 100% sure on the build.

I'm fairly certain that I saw an Ill-Gotten Gains in his hand at some point in the tournament, but I never saw any Dommsday related cards in the three games of his that I watched.

When I played him in top 8, I know that he had to Burning Wish for IGG. I didn't see ANY Doomsday parts through either game. No SDT's either. Why is it that when I abbreviate top like that I usually type STD first? Is it really that much of a disease?

Was it superbean? I know he plays a fetchland-based Burning Wish/Rite of Flame ANT build.

Who was playing Imperial Painter and how did they fair?

Basam was the Painter guy. He came in first from the swiss. Lost in top 8 to Zoo.

I didn't see Rite of Flame either. He ran duresses over chants. Thinking of other points of interest.

So here's the board state:

He has 0 cards in hand, 14 life, and a bunch of land that will cast every spell in his deck, and no other board position.

I have Tarmogoyf (5/6), Mox Diamond, Tundra, and Zuran Orb on the table, and my life is at 2. I attack him down to 9, and I have the choice of casting Tarmogoyf, and giving him exactly one turn to draw a spell that will kill me (only Fireblast), or keeping Swords to Plowshares and giving him a couple draw steps get something. In retrospect, plowing a Tarmogoyf gives me way more turns...

I told him to flip up the Fireblast off the top of his library, and I had one of those "You have chosen... poorly" moments.

I hate to necro this thread, but was a top 8 with decklists posted anywhere? Or submited to deckcheck.net?

I don't think anyone is working on posting it up on deckcheck.
