Hello,

I've always liked the idea of milling an opponent but the brain freeze approach and/or the painter-stone approach never attracted me.

When Archive Trap from Zendikar got out i thought that could be a different list using cool cards that existed before, so i came up with this list hopping to receive some suggestions of experienced players like the most of this forum.

The list:

// Lands
4 [A] Underground Sea
4 [8E] Swamp (1)
4 [ALA] Island (1)
4 [ON] Polluted Delta
3 [A] Tundra
2 Island (3)
2 [DIS] Ghost Quarter

// Creatures
3 [ZEN] Hedron Crab

// Spells
3 [LRW] Thoughtseize
3 [RAV] Glimpse the Unthinkable
4 [5E] Brainstorm
3 [PLC] Extirpate
3 [ARB] Mind Funeral
4 [MI] Mystical Tutor
4 [ZEN] Archive Trap
3 [M10] Ponder
3 [FNM] Reanimate
4 [CFX] Path to Exile

// Sideboard
SB: 2 [PLC] Damnation
SB: 4 [GP] Leyline of the Void
SB: 2 [AT] Nevinyrral's Disk
SB: 3 [7E] Engineered Plague
SB: 2 [8E] Ensnaring Bridge
SB: 2 [ARE] Diabolic Edict

Choice of cards:

[B]Milling cards

Glimpse the Unthinkable - 10 for 2 is just great.
Mind Funeral - after extirpating a fetch it can wreck the opponent
Archive Trap - laugh's at brainstorm's, fetches, SDTs and many more stuff out there.
Hedron Crab - a blocker and a milling helper

Tutor cards

Brainstorm
Ponder
Mystical Tutor

Protection

Path to Exile - another target for Archive Trap and also cleaning the opponent's library from lands to mind funeral him.
Thoughtseize - well...it's thoughtseize...don't know if it fits here

Alternative Win and cool stuff

Reanimate - well...imagine if we mill a Iona... its nice to have it in play but in the right side ;)

Ghoslty Quarter - the opponent doesn't run fetch lands to abuse Archive Trap...no problem then..

Sideboard
Leyline of the Void and Ensnaring Bridge are must have...the others..i hope you could give me a hand.

Sorry if my english is not the best and thank you for reading and for your suggestions.

Have you considered Brain Freeze? The usefulness is dependant on how many instants you can use and how many spells they use when you're ready to Brain Freeze them (since you would probably spend all your instants on their end-step, then Brainfreeze them), but it wouldn't be uncommon to have 3 mana and another instant, then if they played, say, 2 spells, you're already milling them for 12, and if anyone counters, a spell other than it, the storm count will just go higher. Also, no Force of Will?

I'm quite sure Archive Trap alternative cost doesn't trigger with SdT or with Brainstorm, it needs a fetch or a tutor.

with Brainstorm and SdT the opponent just DRAWS or LOOK AT the top 3 cards. He doesn't search the library at all...

also, Brain Freeze 2x, for sure.

Oh...yes, you're absolutely right about SDT and Brainstorm. Thanks for reminding me that. I will also try Brain Freeze instead of thoughtseize maybe? What would you suggest? I would like to include FoW, but don't know what to remove to include them!

How about some Shelldock Isle?

There isn't much reason to play this over Solidarity or Spring Tide. Both are consistently faster, pack FoW, and can fight through hate. Look into those forums in the Established Deck.

You could always use noble benefactor and diabolic intent.

Very nice little combo they won't likely expect first game! (of course you search for two archive traps if they search)

twincast is awesome.

Just a quick thought on your mana base. Everything in your maindeck, except Mind Funeral costs two mana or less. 23 lands seems like way too much. You could cut some land and make room for some of the spells that others have suggested (brain freeze, twincast). Your sideboard should also feature cheaper spells.
