Anyone out there? Any suggestions on what stores to hang out at? I just moved up here from Morris (which is tiny and I didn't play much) and Eau Claire, where I played a lot but didn't really travel. Just looking for some drafting/trading/legacy to spend some time on.

You've found a good area for legacy. Biggest place downtown for legacy (that I've found anyways) is the monster's den, (http://www.dreamersgames.com/ContactUs.aspx) - dreamers also has a pretty decent crowd from what I hear. The Den normally has a big legacy event about once every month or so - bigger buy-in and bigger prizes. Last time I played it was 5 rounds plus T8, think we were pretty close to hitting 6.

Beyond that, I know there are some other smaller stores that have a regular legacy crowd. Games by James in Coon Rapids has Wed night legacy, which is normally 4 rounds worth of play. I've heard of other smaller stores having luck with it too (LAN Games in maplewood for example)

Generally, all of the 'big' tournaments are run out of Misty Mountain North (in burnsville). That's also where the 'big' prerelease tourneys are held - though pretty much every smaller store runs their own as well.

There are other shops around that don't really hold tourneys, but sell magic as well - Beyond Shinders and The Source Comics and Games. Think source might still do weekly T2 and booster drafts, but they don't have much of a legacy following to my knowledge.

Monster Den has a legacy tournament every Thursday at 7pm.

Dreamers has Legacy every Saturday starting at 1pm. This last weekend we had around 16 people.

Note: Maybe it's obvious from the site - Monster Den and Dreamers are owned by the same person which is why stuckpixel linked dreamersgames.com for Monster Den.

edit: There's also Outpost 2000 & Beyond located in Coon Rapids. I don't believe they hold Legacy tournaments, but they do sell singles.

Outpost tried to get thurs night legacy going - but couldn't get enough people out. The owner is a nice guy, and they have a pretty solid standard crowd.

Yeah, Jeff is a cool guy. I used to go to Outpost a ton in 98/99/00 when he was in Brooklyn Park. Too bad they couldn't get anything going for Legacy :(

Thank you, Stuckpixel for letting people know we run legacy.

We run Legacy every Wednesday night starting at 6pm with a $5 entry fee. We do also run a booster draft Monday night starting at 6pm with a $14 Entry fee, as well as FNM Fridays at 6pm with a $5 entry fee. If we get enough people who want to stick around after the first tournament we are always willing (and nearly always do) run a booster draft, standard, legacy, or other mob rule tournament.

Your first tournament with us is $5 off, so if your first tournament is a constructed, its free!

We have various other events on Tuesdays and Thursdays also so we nearly always have MTG players here with their tradebooks. If anyone would like to let us know about their experience at our Tournament Center in Coon Rapids, please let us know! We want to be the best Tournament Center out there, even though we aren't the biggest.

Misty Mountain, Burnsville, does Legacy 6:30 on Tuesdays $5, Standard 6:30 $5 and EDH on Wednesdays, I think they do drafts on Thursdays, FNM drafts on Fridays, and usually drafts on the weekends if they have enough people interested.
