Pox Deck

So my local store has a legacy tournament every no and then. Sometimes they offer one of the P9 as the top prize. Anyway I want to go and compete in the next one and so I decided to build a pox deck. Here is the list:

1 Spawning pool
3 Cabal Pit
18 swamp

4 dark ritual
3 duress
2 inocent blood
4 hymn to tourach
3 grim discovery
3 smallpox
4 diabolic edict
2 consume spirit
1 phyrexian arena
2 pox
2 nevinyrral's disk
1 diabolic tutor

2 bloodghast
1 nantuko shade
2 phyrexian negator
2 braids,cabal minion

I am still trying to get aditional copies of pox, rishadan port and maybe replace the grim dicovery with crucible of worlds. What do you think though? Is this a good starting list, what changes should I make?

You should probably have a look to the Pox Thread (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?4300-[Deck]-Pox).

A few fast comments:

- consume spirit looks out of place, you probably wont ever have the mana to make it relevant.
- you really should go to 4 smallpox
- diabolic tutor is slow and hard to cast (don't forget you're destroying also your own lands)
- you don't have many ways to abuse braids (except for the ghast)
- tombstalker looks better than negator as a finisher

I'd cut spawning pool, cuz lands that come into play tapped kinda suck in legacy. Nonbasics see enough hate as it is, and spawning pool will make you regret playing it. And I'd cut anything that costs more than 3. Sinkhole and Wasteland are very much your friend. And in my oppinion, between Smallpox and Pox, the better card is Pox. It just puts them closer to dead, which is where you want them.

Sign in Blood helps this deck a lot.
