View Full Version : HellCarver Reanimator
The idea of this deck is to combo off with the free casting of the top 6 cards or your library upon activating Hellcarver Demon's ability. The mechanics of the deck work just like reanimator, however, it has the ability to instantly win upon reanimation. Either through combo-ing with Hellcarver Demon, or through instant speed reanimation of Emrakul.
If through combo...works like this: Reveal top 6 cards, statistically you will always get at least one of A. Effect that lets you gain an additional attack phase OR B. Emrakul, which, as you are casting him, will activate the "gain an extra turn" ability and its game over.
The decklist needs a lot of work and testing, which I don't have time for. I think this really could evolve as a deck to beat though, so, as I don't have time, perhaps some of you can help me create the optimal decklist and test it.
Main Structure of Deck:
Force of Will X 4
Daze X 4
Dark Ritual X 4
Entomb X 4
Mystical Tutor X 4

3mana black card with shallow grave effect X2 (I know, I'm a lazy-ass...uughhh)
Lands 16
Underground Sea X4
Swamp X2
Fetches X10

Other than the fact that its different, could you provide some justification for using this list over other conventional UB Reanimator lists? Your list has some pretty cool interactions, but I'm not gonna lie, it looks like consistent than Traditional lists. Also, Shallow Grave --> Emakrul isn't even a kill so that plan is rather weak against every deck but ANT builds that rely on AdN as their engine.

So you are going to rely on hitting a Waves or Fury off the Demon and hitting something else like Emrakul all in one hit? Doesn't seem like the most consistent plan. Relying on hitting a card there's only 4 of in the deck is asking to fizzle and die. Even if you hit a Fury and no Emrakul is does you no good since the demon will die leaving you with nothing to use that free fury on. Going to need something to shore up that problem before you do anything.
You will need something like a tutor to put Emrakul on top or at least increase the number of demons so you can chain into another one and use those extra attacks.

Hellcarver Demon doesn't kill itself.

You're thinking of Corpse Dance, right?
10 Fetches? Overkill? It seems that your manabase is incredibly vulnerable to Stifle and Wasteland (with 6 mana producing lands)

What about this deck:
Lands: 18
4 Polluted Delta
2 Scalding Tarn
4 Underground Sea
2 Watery GRave
3 Island
3 Swamp
Spells: 32
4 FoW
4 Reanimate
4 Ponder
2 Brainstorm
3 Shallow Grave
2 Corpse Dance
3 Fury of the Horde
3 Waves of Aggression
4 Careful Study
3 Cabal Therapy
Creatures: 10
4 Hellcarver Demon
3 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
2 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
1 Charnelhoard Wurm
EDIT: The Charnelhoard's there to regrow your reanimate spells once Hellcarver nukes your hand. I weasn't sure which discard spell to go for, but you can always Therapy yourself in case of a lack of Entomb.

Where are the Entombs? Also, I believe this sort of deck can benefit greatly from Show and Tell. The more outs a person has the better. Furnace of Rath might also be an interesting card to test, maybe even in conjunction with burn.
That's right, the 3 mana card is corpse dance. There probably are a lot of other interesting combo's the deck could do, to make it more resilient, but it should centre around Hellcarver combo.
The reason I don't run show+tell is same reason Reanimator 1.0 doesn't, it slows it down and doesn't add a lot of value.
I think the main point a couple of people are missing is the deck doesn't need Emrakul to win at all, Hellcarver can do well over 20 damage in its attack steps. Emrakul is there for lockdown pieces, like Staxx, Glacial Chasm...etc.

What about Innocent Blood and Barren Glory as a combo? I know it's a bit bizarre, but it should work, especially if you keep a single Emrekul in the deck.
