I keep calculating the overall value of the whole package and I'm still not too sure. I'm guessing he's making sure he gets full value while giving Ebay their cut. What do you guys think?

Well it's up to you to calculate individual value of the cards. Just look at that and compare perhaps?

But dredge is interesting, because there are a lot of dollar cards or cards not worth that much. You can get really screwed on shipping when buying dredge because there are a lot of unique cards that are sort of worth something because they are in dredge. So I would value getting it all in one package. If you bought all the cards individually and it came out to like $175, why not buy this for $200? That $25 is nice, but it will take a lot of work if you are starting from scratch.

I speak from experience in terms of frugal spending on cards, I'm a broke college student. $25 means a lot to me, unlike people with jobs.

Paying a little extra to make up for the time spent searching around for all the cards individually is fine. It depends on how valuable your time is.

I know that dude, and I know thats legit. if you bought all those cards separately, imagine adding $2 or so onto the cost of each playset for shipping. he has shipping at $4, and it'll probably cost him more than that to ship it. its going to cost him $17 in ebay/paypal fees when it sells too. its not a bad deal considering what a lot of other people try to sell as "legacy" decks on ebay.

I definitely would have bought that and I own 1/4 to 1/2 the cards already. Smart move!

But also keep in mind that the junk commons lose almost all value. I have like a thousand dollars tied up in $0.05c commons that I'll never be able to unload.

If someone is selling a deck wholesale, they're also profiting very much from the convenience of not having junkers worth less than a dollar lying around.

EDIT: Oh, my bad, was a BIN ebay auction, so you couldn't haggle.

I built the whole deck with LEDs for less than $200 about a year ago. He is throwing in a lot of foreign cards though... I think you probably paid about a $25-50 premium, but that's still less than if you got them all on SCG. Local stores are always the best place to buy commons/uncommons in my opinion.

Have you been under a rock for the last year as well ? The prices on pretty much all legacy cards have doubled and tripled in that time. Local stores are usually the best place to get junk commons, but for uncommons and up, ebay or online is usually cheaper.

Well when it comes to selling cards, then that's a different monster. OP can simply sell this deck as a batch when he's done with it in order to unload all the garbage commons. If prices keep rising, he can be making a profit just by sitting on the deck.
