View Full Version : Okay, which edition is this?!
Yeah folks, I have a City of Brass here.
Whitebordered.
With the expansionsymbol of Arabian Nights.
With the artwork of Arabian Nights.
I'm totally clueless from which edition this is.
Anyone can help me?

That's Chronicles. It's the set you hear about all the time by people who defend the Reserved List.
They reprinted a bunch of stuff in older sets with a white border and a bunch of people got mad cuz their cards got devalued.

Oh, so... that's Chronicles. Hum, is that set tournament legal? I guess yes, because it's white bordered...
Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I've never actually encountered any Chronicles cards until now.

Yes, it's legal to play in tournaments.
There's only a few cards that can't be played in tournaments.
1. Silver bordered cards, ie Unhinged and Unglued sets.
2. Gold bordered cards.
3. Gold borders on the back with gold letters indicating International and Collector's Edition.
4. The oversized Box toppers cards and 6x9 cards. (They are much larger than normal Magic cards).
5. Ante cards and things on the appropriate banned list.
6. Fraternal Exaltation, Proposal, Splendid Genesis, and any other Garfield favor type cards.
Most of the time you will only ever see the Ante cards, Un sets, or Collector's edition. The others are fairly rare to see. All White-bordered cards are legal unless they mention Ante and luckily all those spell it out on the card for you.
Alright, thanks dudes :)
I suppose this can be locked now.
