Hey guys, I'm moving to the Chicago area soon, and when I went online to look at places that host FNM (hoping they'd also be places that host Legacy tourneys), I found absolutely nada. Since not playing Magic simply is not an option, and since there HAS to be something in the area, could anyone offer me some help? I'll be living in the Naperville area, if that helps.
Thanks!

It is a little bit of a drive, but in Portage, Indiana there is a store that is supposed to start having friday night events. The store name is Lightspeed Hobbies. It is probably 60-70 minutes from naperville depending on the crappy traffic in Chicago.
dan who?

Here is a thread started a little bit ago with places to look into as well as people who would be interested in just getting together and playing etc.
Depending on where you are located in Chicago you can check out Pastimes.net, xtremegamesonline.com, astrocitygames.com, as well as the tournament thread on the source. People host legacy tournaments at the College of Dupage (Glen Ellyn) every week or so. Not sure if that has halted since it is the summer though.
Xtreme Games is hosting a GPT for Columbus which is legacy format this weekend and is trying to do more legacy events. Pastimes had a couple legacy 1ks in the past couple months. Astro City Games also had a legacy series that started in Feb and ended in March.
Hope this helps!

Monday Night in Glen Ellyn is on 51 weeks of the year. The Monday closest to Christmas the building is usually closed. Naperville, depending on what side of the city you are on, is either very close to or about 25 min away from Glen Ellyn.

Probably the North Shore (a handful of communities about 45 mins north of the city). That's actually where I live but there isn't any Legacy around me. I have to drive about an hour away to College of Dupage to play Legacy.

Chicagoland is large; almost the same area as Massachusetts. XTreme Games is 70 miles away from me. So don't think you are necessarily close to something even though you are both in Chicagoland.

So, I'm living in Naperville, and from what someone told me at last week's sealed deck FNM tournament, the College of DuPage Monday night-er is fairly close to where I am...but nobody seems to have an address, or know exactly where it is, so I can actually get there...can anyone help me out? I almost feel like I'm searching for some sort of secret society, this has gotten so elusive...
Thanks!

I'd recommend avoiding MTGChicago. If you want to know why, take a few minutes to read:

The College of DuPage monday night tournaments are probably your best bet for regular Legacy action, and is close and affordable. Welcome to Naperville.

I was unaware of this situation and will bring it up this week at FNM. Just so you know the peeps running the Legacy event (including myself) are in no way affiliated with the store other than it is local, they have tables, and are willing to support a Legacy event. I have asked every store in the city limits and no one was willing besides MTG Chicago. I just have a large play group and we figured why not win a little something, meet some new peeps, play some different decks, and get testing done at the same time?
I also see some of the posters on the drain, are new posters and it makes me think they are by rival stores. I found a link to another forum and no for sure that mh74 is March Heller owner of Galactic Force. Not that it makes it any better, just saying, people use the interwebs to complain, no one is ever going to log on and state, " Wow I got a great deal," or something to that affect. I once traded a fake Eureka from SCG and they refused to trade me back, (this happened within 1 hour when I brought the card to another dealer.)
I know Gem Comics in Elmhurst also runs a monthly Legacy event the 3rd Monday of every month. Kind of conflicting with College of Dreams, but an option none the less.
For a bunch of events both in Chicago and the 'burbs check out this calendar:

Wow... That place is still open? I used to go there back at '95. How big is the legacy scene?

Yup. Gem is still kicking. I worked here for around 10 years and am still an on call employee. There magic scene is pretty casual except for the Legacy event. They run an event every Monday but the schedule rotates between, EDH, Pauper, Cube, Draft, & Legacy. Most of the serious Legacy players are in college so the best time to go for Legacy is in the summer and during Christmas and Spring Break. At these times they have around 12-16 for Legacy. Otherwise it's usually around 8 players. Always have a big turnout for the drafts enough for at least two pods.
